Screw that noise... I'm going to rent the game anyway, drive backward on the track and put people into the wall whenever I can, while on my NEXTEL phone.

But srsly, EA never bothered to release the arcade game to the consoles, so clearly they had no care to bother making the franchise respectable. I kinda wish Codemasters had picked up the license, given how well the DIRT series is. Hell, maybe even BR/Disney Interactive?

Please don't mess this up. Please don't mess this up. Please don't mess this up. It would be great to have a good Nascar game this decade that isn't NR2003 for PC.

@jayrockslife My thought exactly. The team control and the grudge element from back in 06 is needed - and the leftdrafting from 08 taken away.. ยค#&%%/# it was annoying to adjust the car all the time...

and then beautiful graphics, slowmotion crashes, a great speaker, ability to change sponsor and vinyls on the car... and on top of it, a manager mode. ;)

@Spookimitsu I think they bought a icense that only partly covers what NASCAR is, I know one of the NASCAR tracks are being used in the GT5 prologue. :)

@FrozenPlasma

I like the GT5 approach. An oval race can be extremely suspenseful and interesting, but it's just not enough to hold my attention. I would like to taste it, with the quality of a GT5 type game, but an entire 36 races of that? Not as much fun. The general motif of a Nascar game usually also doesn't appeal to me, but for those who are into that, a dedicated game makes more sense than just GT5.

I remember comparing EA' sports's demo for their last Nascar game to GT prologue at Daytona. It was a freaking ridiculous difference in quality. Perhaps licensing all that material from dozens of tracks and brands and teams takes away development money? I don't know, but nascar games generally are crappy in comparison to GT or Forza.

Give me a couple of oval races, a limited number of licensed cars, and I can scratch that little itch once in a while with the much higher quality I expect from GT5.

I've mentioned this before, but it would make sense to me for Polyphony to license their game's core to whoever licenses all that material needed for a full dedicated Nascar game. but people tell me this is stupid, so I guess it ain't gonna happen.

Yep, because when I'm bored with driving in an oval, I can jump to WRC.

Plus at the very least, we know the control and graphics will be much better in GT5.. even if it's not the "whole season".

THEIR TRACKS ARE OVALS DAMN IT.
I wonder if this is Nascar's way of saying they aren't going to wait for Gran Turismo anymore. They need to whore their brand every year not wait for GT6.

@The1stMJC

actually, it's Nascar's way of saying they don't know wtf they are doing when it comes to licensing their sport in video games. But, at least they let Polyphony include Nascar in GT5. i have no idea why they would feel the need to let another company make an inferior game at the same time. Maybe they just wanted to make some more money.... nah, that can't be the case.

Haters gonna hate, but Nascar games are pretty fun, even though I don't actually follow racing at all.

Hopefully they do this one well. Gran Turismo has never really been my thing so a little more arcadey approach wouldn't hurt here.

Have you played the NASCAR games from this generation?? The graphics were horrible and the game felt like it was thrown together in 6 months.

Sometimes people hate because... well... there's a reason!

Then again, if you hate Gran Turismo, I can understand your lack of taste when it comes to racing games...

Is there a feature that allows players to do the "car spin" after winning the race? Maybe it could be a QTE. Would be more entertaining than the preceding 200 laps.

How can having two games in the market be a bad thing? That creates a healthy competition, no? But them again, GT isn't a yearly franchise, so without a non-exclusive license, there wouldn't be Nascar in a video game until the next GT came out.

While GT5 will have the superior graphics, the only place to find a full Nascar experience, full season, 43 car grid, is here in "The Game". I can only assume that GT5 will only offer a taste of the Nascar experience.

Except using Activision's (aka Bobby Kotick's) vision for the future (aka pillaging gamers), you'll only get 20 cars and 6 tracks on the disc.

But don't worry, Trackapathy will be along shortly to sell you the missing tracks as DLC. Only $10 for 3 tracks! Want the missing cars too? No problem, $10 for 6! Bargain.

Oh, you want to race online? Sure, just sign up for this subscription and you're good to go.

No thanks Activision. I'll settle for the taste GT5 gives me.

You are probably right, but would you rather have a great racing game or a medicore racing game? If I was a Nascar fan I would still choose GT5 over this cuz I know GT will be a much better game. But, I don't care about Nascar that much and I will probably just play those races just to finish the trophies and move on.

I understand you sentiments towards Activision, but those implementations haven't been made yet.

@lakkus

You know I'd rather have a great racing game than an average one, but what would you rather have in GT's off year? An average game, or no game at all? I'll take the average game. The game could be great, It's not even out yet.

Why would a Nascar fan choose the "taste" over the "full game"? That's like being satisfied with a demo. If anything, sales of GT5 will lead to more sales of "The Game" because of how good the "taste" from GT5 will be.

@JesseDeya I think you are over-exaggerating a bit there, but you do get your point across. lol

Hopefully they won't do that - I want a 43 car full grid, replacements, and all tracks from the real world. Less wouldn't suffice, and they WILL be hammered in reviews if they do as you just said.

I think the taste GT5 gives us is good enough for many people who are interested in Nascar, but are not die hard fans. It's just enough to enjoy the race, and move on to a different type shortly.

To earn my $60, a Nascar game would have to be excellent. I also question whether Activision cares about that, given their recent history, but I'll keep an open mind. I know almost all Nascar games recently have been drastically poorer than a GT or Forza game. Just play Prologue's Daytona and compare to any Nascar game on a console. There's no comparison. I'll take my 4 ounce filet over a bucket of ground dogmeat.

Why would I want this if I can get Grand Turismo with NASCAR... AND other types of racing. Personally, I love NASCAR (I'm from Charlotte NC) but I think basing a game solely on it is silly. Especially when there are other games that include multiple different types of racing. $60 for just NASCAR or $60 for a multitude of different car based sports? Seems like a no brainer for me.

Heck, who am I kidding, $60 to Activision or $60 to someone else is enough to determine my decision regardless of the game.

or you could get Gran Turismo with Nascar + Every other Type of Racing imaginable... WHY would someone make this... Maybe the Nascar Lovers would buy it if the Did not Realize that Gran Tursimo will already have this and Probably do it Better. Gran Tursimo Usually Smokes Every other Racer made. That and and you cannot buy Gran Turismo on CrashBox360 (4 RRODs for Me...)

To the people who are ripping on NASCAR: It's OK, you're either a fan or your not. You dont understand why people like oval track racing. I don't understand why people like football. I don't get a bunch of dudes in a ton of padding doing a play, stopping for a few, doing a play, etc.

To the GT5 fans: I understand your point, but from what I hear, the NASCAR in GT5 will only have like 3-5 tracks, and doubtful they'll have a full field like fans would want.

Plus NASCAR will be out in February, which is likely sooner than the NEXT announced GT5 release date delay. (I'm kidding, but who would be surprised if they delayed it again? I mean, really?)
