According to IMDb, it isn't. But he's got some actor siblings, including one who's Voldemort.

@Altar IbnLaAhad Wait, so you're telling me that you're comparing the cop in SVU, a show that's been on for several years, to a character in FlashForward, a short lived, and poorly executed, show from last season? Did you just get a TV last January or something?

Don't be so narrow minded, maybe it's the fact that the show doesn't air in England? Not everyone lives in America.

I hate in TV shows there always button bashing and doing hardley anything on screen.
Also when people use PC's on TV they never ever ever use a mouse its like
"can you bring up that video file, cut it edit it, chop this file into it, send it to frank that creat copys onto this CD?"
"NOOO PROBLEM"
*Random Keyboard Bashing for about 5 seconds*
and the worst times are when they actualy have a mouse moving and clicking on screen when there hands are CLEARLY doing this:
vciohvndsivhnidsnvls shnivdsn klv dsvndsivn ds vdsvhneasvn edks

The absolute worst is when the computer guy shows the cops a really fuzzy, black & white, low-res photo of a face or car licence plate associated with a crime and the cops say: "can you blow that up so we can see it better?" The computer guy magnifies the object onscreen and somehow, magically the fuzzy, low-res object becomes unpixelated, high-res and perfectly visible.
Funny, 'cause when I try this on my computer all I get is a mess of pixels.

But it's not the editors fault :p, usually us "Geeks" are looking through all the rough footage thinking.. Really?
What bugs me though is the amazing abilities of what editing on screen can do ..
"Heres that digital recording you asked for"
"Magnify that rice bowl!"
*tap* *tap*
"Get close in to that grain of rice"
*tap* *tap*
"Sharpen the image"
*tap* *tap*
"I knew it.. He wrote Dante's epic poem on a single grain of rice"

Yes, I really hate that. Then I look around the room and realize I'm the only one outraged and then feel like a huge geek.
However I felt a bit better during an episode of SVU that starred Robin Williams... He was on trial and the prosecution brought in a blown up picture they had of him in a crowd (used to help identify him at the crime scene). Robin's character asked the computer forensics expert on the stand to explain how it was that a small blurry photo was able to be blown up to look as clear and detailed as it was and how it supposedly was able to identify him. The computer guy says "The software program uses an algorithm to predict the most likely..." Robin's character interrupts and says, "In other words, it -guesses-?"
Good stuff.

Some show I was watching recently finally called other shows out on this. I think it was Castle, can't remember for sure. They were at the computer and one of the FBI agents asked the tech to blow up and image and then make it clear, and he said something like...
"This is the FBI, not a bad television drama"

Bit of a side note, but Adobe came out with a lens that lets you refocus an image after it's taken:

@MrVee PSN Vampah - My favorite was this one episode of a show where the detective/cop/whatever asked the technician if he could pan a piece of video...taken on a fixed security camera. Not only did he pan it way to the left (as if the camera had pivoted that way) but he also super zoomed in and turned blurry into ultra sharp with the random clack of a few buttons.
TV detectives: Not encumbered by fixed position, low resolution security cameras. Anyone that watches the local news for ten minutes would find out that security camera footage is grainy and awful, but the truth needn't get in the way of a good story.

The show had been on for 20 seasons which is pretty impressive. Ratings were slipping for the show and giving NBC's decision making lately its not much of a surprise that the show got canceled. Its just a shame that they didn't give one of their best shows a proper conclusion with a final season or a TV movie or something. Now we're left with the over-dramatic SVU and the LA version of the show and everyone knows(or at least should know) NYC >>>> LA

I don't think it's stereotype, I think it's more a case of extreme case. Law and Order generally inspire itself from real case and there was recently a report of parent neglecting their kid for videogame. I think that's what inspired that story.

Well, true, they base a lot of their shows and real stories.
but they drastically overstate many details, and sometimes in story-breaking and unrealistic ways.
Not that I'm upset about it, but Law and Order is incredibly unrealistic and has been for ages. I used to really enjoy the show, because it originally was much more dry and realistic. Oh well. Popularity comes with dumbing down.

Yup, that's L&O all right. I'm not going to get upset about the show stereotyping anybody. In fact there are actually people like that out there. What I found most interesting about the clip was when the gamer said 'where did you come from?', the cop replies ' The real world. Join us'. Very ironic coming from a tv show and i imagine very satisfying for the rubes glued to their tvs. They should make a L&O in which they bust in on somebody watching L&O.

SVU used to be so much better than this. IN the early seasons, they even had an extremely pro-gaming episode, with the Chief gettin' real good at a game and helpin' a kid!
I blame CSI for ruining it for all crime shows. Now everything has to be all glitzed up and show them using PC's that don't exist.

At least the video-game didn't sound all like "bleep-bleep beepity-boop". Now *that* would've been offensive.
