IndieCade will be awarding its Honorary Trailblazer Award for Lifetime Achievement to none other than Tim Schafer, he of the Secret of Monkey Island series, Psychonauts and most recently Brütal Legend. Schafer was chosen for the honor as a role model to indie gamers everywhere, and for personifying "the risk-taking, boundary pushing spirit at the heart of the indepedent gaming community," according to a statement from the conference.
IndieCade 2010 takes place in about a week on October 8-10, 2010 in Culver City, California. Schafer will get his award presented to him by former (and current) colleague Ron Gilbert at the ceremony on Thursday night, hosted by Levar Burton.

Glad he won. Psychonauts will forever be one of my favorite games.
I'm going crazy waiting for news about the other games he is developing.

I wonder how long will Bobby Kotick think of a comment for Tim Schafer this time.

Probably one year later...
He'll be all like "The only reason Schafer won that joke award, was because Bungie, the best indie studio of all time! Was too busy working to be bothered with".
To which Schafer will teasingly respond by saying "Yes, because Halo Reach was totally Indy, as was 1-4".

I was reading along, muttering, "Good, good, great." to myself, until I saw the last line. Hosted by Levar Burton? I'm TOTALLY there.

He couldn't deserve it more. Indubitably the most creative mind in gaming.
