@SnorlaxTheSerialKiller

Thank you. I would have gladly accepted a Mario Party 9 with the option to play as your mii.

"Because you don't have enough party games for your Wii, we here at Nintendo made you another. You're welcome, teenage girls and parents."

Since Wii isn't a console I would play with my hardcore friends, this sounds fine for my family and casual gamer friends

@Ryuk A dark reimagining of the franchise that goes back to Mario Party's roots and updates it for a more mature audience. "Mario is throwing a Party ... WHO WILL SURVIVE???"

You could easily tell some of these reviewers play party games like this all by himself. It's like reviewing MMORPG as an offline single player game.

I think its hypocritical that people rather have Mario Party than Wii Party even though they are almost identical in concept. I bet if it was Mario Party 154 it would have gotten a better score, but because its proceeded to be a 'casual game' people automatically think its trash and "mario party is for the hardcore". People would also complain too many mario games being released if it was titled Mario Party .

@adv2k169

I don't think it is hypocritical. Looking at the screenshots the game has the standard "Wii game" look: sterile and uninteresting. The board shown looks as bland as a rice cake. Mario characters have personality and the boards on Mario party games have a theme. That goes a long way toward making it enjoyable.

The reviewer also says they screwed up the formula by de-emphasizing minigames during board play. This sounds like an attempt to make it "casual-friendly" because a casual gamer would be put off by learning a new game every few minutes. The same can be said for the frequent sudden changes in player ranking.

And frankly I'm ready for a new Mario Party. The last one was obviously rushed and didn't make good use of the Wii remote. A sequel that makes full use of the Wii's capabilities is long overdue now that

@adv2k169 Actually I'd just rather play as Mario characters. :P
Miis are generic and lame imo. I much prefer the outlandish Mario series characters and locales.

I'm surprised that this only got 3/5. I played the Japanese version with four friends a couple weeks back and I was happily surprised with how fun it was. I rarely ever play party games - not to mention this was the first time to use my Wii in at least four months - but this game was fun.

"three friends," I meant to write. (I don't have four.)

They're thinking outside the box with some of the games on this, but otherwise yours seemed to be the general impression i got.

Perhaps Nintendo was too hasty to buy NDCube outright?

I'm a hardcore gamer that is excited for this. Now don't crucify me so let me explain. Every once on a while me and my friends get together and bust out our wiimotes for Mario party 8. Only cuz we make a drinking game out of this. For example, whoever lands on the blue space gives a drink; land on the red and you take a drink. Try this out and come up with drinking rules for this and I think you'll have alot of fun. I've been doing this since Mario party 4 so I'm excited to see what I can do with this game. If not then it's back to MP 8. By the way whoever comes dead last when the game finishes should be punished.(take a shot,shotgun a beer,etc.)
