"The thinking from the beginning was not to assume there would be a sequel -- just to put everything into this game. It's a new IP, so let's not plan for a sequel because the chances are we'll only disappoint ourselves. So we mentally prepared for that -- we've not planned for a sequel. But if it gains some traction, I'd like to see something happen."Before there's any sequel talk, people will have to buy the game, of course. And Enslaved is going up against some stiff competition as the fall season ramps up; beginning this week with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. But, hey, even if a sequel's ruled out, at least there will be DLC.
Ninja Theory hasn't planned Enslaved sequel, but 'would like something to happen'

Following the completion of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (and its release this week), Ninja Theory has turned to the next project on its plate, DmC: Devil May Cry. However, studio head Tameem Antoniades tells Eurogamer that an Enslaved sequel isn't entirely off the table. In fact, Antoniades says the studio has the "capacity to do two games."

Even ignoring the inability to think outside the the box, as in 'Whole new story and characters, but same universe', there's plenty of room for a sequel just as it is. Kai is still on the lose. Where the sword actually came from could be explored, or other items from that place. A prequel could be done.
Yeah, Heavenly Sword is definitely a closed book as it is.

This game is such a beautiful and fun breath of fresh air. I loved the demo and people I know that have played the full game have positive things to say aside from some framerate problems and platforming that is a bit too automatic.
I hope there could be a sequel. Too often really good, interesting, and new titles like this are overlooked while we get the 100th installment of a soulless franchise. Let's give the gems some attention instead of turning it into another Psychonauts or Beyond Good and Evil.

Maybe it was just me, but I wasn't good enough to finish it in 5 hours. It took me almost twice as long. The game was overly difficult in some areas.
9/10 times that had to do with the six-axis controls that I'm sure Sony forced upon them to use. Back when first years titles had to show how (not) awesome it was.

A little early to make that claim isn't it HardBoiled? I like Heavenly Sword a lot. Still own it. I also intend to pick up Enslaved. I hope to like them both in their own unique ways.

You did not 'have' to use the Sixaxis controls. Look at an options screen for once in your life.

Am I the only one to notice the Super Saiyeness?
In other news, sequels ruin already superb scriptwriting, Bioshock for one is treading on thin ice.
Ninja Theory, don't do it, make something using the Enslaved name if you must with similar gameplay, but not a direct sequel, that way if it's a mess, at least we won't hate the original plot and characters for it.

It's unfortunate, but Enslaved is hardly based on Journey to the West...only thing they have is Monkey and that other Pig character, and some weapons similarity. But other then those, the Story, the Scenery, Elements and Powers and everything else is nothing like Journey to the West.
They only slapped on "Journey to the West" to this game, to try and draw in more consumers.

I plan on getting Enslaved. Looks unique artistically and the story seemed like it would be entertaining, engrossing, and relatively mature. I'm not sure that I like sequel talk though before the game is even out. Makes me worry that the game won't have a satisfying conclusion.

please oh please let there be a sequel! from reviews i have read it sounds like there needs to be a sequel. plus the game is pretty darn good in just about every way.

@Anticrawl Cameron didn't direct, produce, or write T3 or Salvation.
Also add Aliens to the list of awesome sequels by Cameron. I still greatly prefer Alien's blend of Sci-Fi and Horror, but Aliens is a brilliant Sci-Fi Actioner.

I'm picking the game up later today and I have high hopes, I loved the demo.
Unfortunately I don't think it will sell that great, maybe 1 - 1.5 million units with PS3 & 360 sales combined.

I bought it, played through chapters 1-3 and loving it. I just wish that I didn't have to buy yet another inferior PS3 port of an Unreal Engine 3 game, JEEZ. But it's not too bad, plays good and looks good. Ignore the demo, it's not representative of the rest of the game in my opinion. They really shot themselves in the foot by releasing that demo.
