Sports Champions 'Haunted' DLC coming to PSN Tuesday

We were just about to accuse Sony of selling us a false bill of goods with Sports Champions -- the demo shown at last year's E3 featured sword fighting against skeletons, a feature left absent in the final version of the game. All we want is to hit skeletons with bladed weapons! Fortunately, a handful of ghoulish opponents will be added to the Move launch title in the "Haunted" DLC pack, due out on the PSN this Tuesday.

The pack, which will run shoppers $4.99, includes three new undead-themed playable characters and sports equipment, such as the "Skull Bocce Set" and "Skeleton Sword and Shield." Yeah.. Awesome! Sure, like Sony's move line up wasnt poor, this shouldnt be priced DLC. Actually, from the begging characters shoud have been Home avatars. And no, i dont care how copy-cat that is.

doesn't look bad actually.. fighting as a skeleton would be a nice mix

It's also gettin an "Unlock All" DLC. I wonder if that's free and what they mean by "all". All extra items/equipment? characters? both maybe?

I won't be buying this, but the grim reaper throwing a frisbee screen is pretty good!

Bet Wii Sports is jealous now.
Not only does this do DLC but it does DLC with the Grim Reaper in it.

This game actually makes me want to buy the Move. But I'm going to wait and let the Move have a firm establishment first. It seems highly unlikely for it to fail, but you can never be too careful when it comes to investing $100+ on a peripheral.

Then again, I want to sword fight a freakin' skeleton RIGHT NOW!

@JDBar I understand people wanting to wait for it to establish itself, but the Move is definitely worth every penny. I love it.

@JDBar I'll tell you, I thought the price was kinda steep too, but sports champions alone makes it worth it. I've already got a ping-pong and sword fighting rivalry going with one of my good friends. and my girlfriend and his wife LOVE the bocce and frisbee golf games. I didn't play games with my gf previously and now she can't wait to turn on the PS3.

I still wonder if it will ever be an effective control scheme for FPS games, but honestly, now I'm not so worried about it.

yea i was skeptical at first, and my friends were completely against it, we went to the Sony Style store at our mall, and played some Move, and everyone was wowed, they had no idea how 1:1 it was, they didn't believe me. they tried to convince me to buy it so we could all play Sports Champions -_-

I'm going to wait for a couple more good games to come out to get it though, but it's definitely here to stay, no doubt about that

My thoughts exactly, I wanna support this game though so I will prob get all the DLC it gives out as long as it isn't always costumes.
Online play and extra sports would be very welcome. Maybe like a basket ball throwing game or something.
I'd also love a fencing game, like the warriors thing except pure one on one with a sword only lol

Okay, so this seems kinda fun. The default characters are so overly cliche' and lame. I wish there was more content on different characters in the game. But this will do for now.

It's $5 for skins..... Like spending your money on avatar clothes or stuff for PS home.... No one is going to tuch on this? It's 1/3 of the price of downloadable GAMES, for a new overlay on previously built characters already in the game!

When companies put out content DLC (aka: extra levels and whatnot) people complain that should have been in the game and it was withheld because they love to leech money out of us.

When they put out cosmetic DLC... people complain about the same...

Solution:a) no DLC?
b) quit complaining and just don't buy it.

i just wish they would release a DLC that allows us to play online so i can whoop some people's butt in tabl tennis =D

@TypeF I'm not an expert, but I'm under the impression that latency issues will prohibit games like ping-pong and sword fighting from working adequately over the internet. Most multiplayer online games use approximation to create a compelling multiplayer experience, but one client's experiences can be very different from another. It's pretty apparent if you've ever watched someone else's screen while playing an MMO, FPS or fighting game.
It's why that dude keeps knifing you from 12 feet away..

The Fight is going to have online multiplayer so it seems like there is a way for it to work.

I am hoping for a an online DLC feature for some online ping-pong action as well.

5 bucks seems like a bit much for such a small amount of content, but I'll be damned if I'm the only one on the block not knocking around skeletons.

I've been "welcomed" to DLC for a long time. This is not advertised ad a "skin pack" so called actual "skin packs" are advertised as such. The original point of my comment was pointing out how nobody said anything about the pricepoint for you "skin pack" just saying that you can buy an actual game for just the price of 3 of your "skin packs".

This really is terrible. I'm microtransactioned to death. DLC should be free. Free I tell you! * goes back to tf2 and free maps, free new weapons, free class updates, free extra achievements, free seasonal events, free online multiplayer.

Agree. DLC is mostly overpriced. But if people pay it, the game companies will keep making it and charging for it. What we get for dlc is not worth the money--especially since the dlc is very minimal when compared to the full price of the game. In this example, $5 off $60 is 1/12 .... this dlc is not 1/12 worth of what you get in the game when first purchased. In other words, I'm saying the dlc is not worth the cost when compared to content of the game when first released--ratio-wise.

Sports Champions .... you're gonna have to come harder than that. Gamers aren't dumb-well most of them aren't, anyway.

I thought I would mention that this "pack" is a 100KB unlock key for content already on the disc, because I know that really drives people crazy.
