Did you know that the PSP Go allows you to tether a PS3 controller to the handheld, effectively doing away with the portable nature of the device but arguably improving the feel of its controls? Maybe you didn't, largely because using a separate controller for a handheld device would be ... weird. Peripheral manufacturer Gametech Bear has come up with a way around this phenomenon -- it's created a device which physically adheres the PSP Go to a DualShock 3.
Gametech plans to release the peripheral by the end of the year in Japan at a price point of 2,980 yen (or $36). Though it actually attaches the controller to the handheld, you still have to use a Bluetooth connection to tether the two devices. Here's hoping it doesn't interfere with your DualShock 3's Bluetooth connection to your top-of-the-line FutureToaster.

There was supposed to be tethered functionality through PS3 connectivity. I'm guessing it didn't pan out though ...

Making peripherals for a device with an install base only slightly larger than my first girlfriend doesn't exactly seem like a sound business strategy.

Thats not useless or anything,
Only benefit to it, would be if the second analog stick worked in games that you need it for.. for the camera >.>

All the bluetooth takes place between the PSP GO and the Dualshock 3. This new device seems to do nothing except clip them together. It seems like you could McGuiver this yourself and save $36 or whatever.

awesome but doesn't make the second analog stick suddenly useful so i see no point in playing with a DS3. It kinda defeats the portable part of a PSP

Not really, I'd actually love this to take on work trips.
Two reasons I think this is awesome:
1) PspGo is a little too small for my man hands. Ds3 fits better.
2) GT Psp. This would be awesome to have 'proper' analogue stick control for steering.

I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I had a PSP Go. I have a 3000, which I love, but unfortunately doesn't work with a DS3 the way the Go does. I actually consider getting a Go too on occasion just so I can use it like a console (hook it up to tv, play with ds3) when I'm home and want to play a psp game but don't necessarily want a small screen/portability.
If sony ever comes out with a 3000 style (UMD, bigger screen) that does bluetooth, i'm upgrading my 3000.

How is DS3 usage weird? You hook up your PSP Go to your TV via component, and you play it with your DS3. It actually works pretty nicely, from what I understand.

one of these days they should add all the buttons on a dualshock to a psp, so we can use our psps as controllers for our ps3's for any game in our library

I do not understand why so many people complain about the second analog stick for PSP. If you really want to play a game like that then there are plenty of console games available.
Sony really messed up trying to market PSP as a portable console comparison. It should be a functional handheld first. The only complaint I have with my PSP is that the joystiq should be concave rather than convex so that I can better maneuver with my thumb.
I don't recall seeing any preemptive criticisms of 3DS's single joystiq.

The 3DS has a touch screen, which has in the past functioned similarly to a second analog stick. Also, a lot of high-profile PSP games are portable versions of console titles, which usually use the second analog stick for aiming, camera movement, etc.

The Gamecube had dual-analog sticks.

I understand that point, and that is also my problem. Instead of making PSP games most developers were making reduced console games for PSP. I don't think that was the best thing for PSP

Why so much hate on this idea? I think it's a brilliant idea, the psp controls suck. I have a 1000, and it still makes my hands hurt after awhile. Having a DS3 connected, grips and all, would make the thing feel, y'know, ergonomical . . .
And to the above poster, 1 analog stick is awful for alot of games. And I have preemptively griped about the 3ds having just 1 analog "nub." Because it will be awful for alot of games.
Does that answer your concern?

resistance retrubution can use what called psp plus, where you can infect the psp game using resistance 2, also if you use the psp plus feature you do get the second analogue but at the cost of NO auto aim. I would assume if you use the bluetooth connection for a psp, you have the psp connected to a TV, this is how I've done it.
I own a psp go and don't know if a psp 3000 series does the bluetooth connection as i owned a psp 2000 series that did not.

I love how everyone in this thread is just mad they didn't get a superior PSP go with blue tooth, a better battery life, an improved analog stick, shoulder buttons, and ipod touch like sleep mode.

@oostin623 yeah, I never got why there was so much hate for the GO. I just got one (my first psp), and for someone who has never had one before, it's great. I can carry it around with me easily, i've put several videos on it, and I never have to carry a single game with me.
My only problems now are that some of the games seem overly expensive (and i don't mean just on psn, i mean psp games in general for what you get), and many of the games are just plain awful. MGS: PO has an awful camera (why not just have the nonadjustable camera that always worked in MGS 1&2?) and makes me wanna go play MGS3. The dynasty warriors game I got is one of the most boring games I've ever gotten (and I like DW games), and coded arms just seems so drawn out to do anything. SOTN is the best game I have right now, and while I'm having a blast playing through it again, I could have played that on my ps3.
I'm going to buy more Castlevania games and a megaman game, and then just focus on sidescrollers and rpg's, since the 3d games just feel like crap.

I jerry-rigged something just like this out of an old cell phone case, some bicycle parts and three feet of electrical tape. I'm so relieved that someone went through the trouble of designing a real one.
when you play most original playstation games, both analogs, all four triggers, and rumble support works.
also, I love how sexy my white go looks nestled tightly to my white dualshock 3.
soooooo sexy.
still buying one for sure.
