Sega has discounted four of its iOS games on the US iTunes Store. We contacted the publisher for the specific end date of the sale and all it could offer was that the discounted prices will be in effect for "a limited time" -- frugal shoppers don't have much time to gorge on savings, we assume. Here's what's available (all are $1.99, previously $5.99): Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Super Monkey Ball and Phantasy Star II.
Oh, and because you'll inevitably ask: no, sorry, we don't have a launch price for Sonic 4: Episode 1 yet.

Are these the versions of Sonic that work for the Classic iPod?

Hi David,
I think you have the Super Monkey Ball offer wrong. The Sega America Blog states Super Monkey Ball 2 and $0.99. The App Storepage for the game verifies it.

I want to know if/when Sonic 3 will be coming to iTunes. I still think Sonic 4 should come out as one game, but oh well... As long as each episode isn't the price of the previous games.
By the way, can anyone tell me what the other two on-sale Sega games are like? Are they worth buying? Because Sonic was.

I never thought I'd say this, but iOS has actually turned into a great platform for gaming.

I was just telling my wife that last night. I completed Spider-Man Total Mayhem yesterday and was amazed at how well it controlled and just how FUN the game was. It actually puts a lot of the console outings to shame.
On the flip side, for every Spider-Man Total Mayhem there's about 4,000 crap games.
