I like this idea, will have to see if I have any of the crappy third party Xbox controllers left.

Yes, I'm sure a poorly thought out campaign of near harassment will convince them to change their mind instead of further strengthening their resolve and solidifying adult-aged gamer''s image as a goofy fringe group in Washington.

That's what most gamers are: quirky and annoying but not showing excessive violence to prove their point. Too bad I'm Canadian but I'd totally send my controllers in for the lulz.

@onlyk But wait a sec... doesn't sending in thousands of broken controllers prove the point we're trying to avoid? Violent games, which is what this bill attacks, are just going to be more vilified if people start sending on controllers that look like they've been abused by angry gamers.

It's like saying bears aren't dangerous by displaying a pile of claw marked dead bodies.

@onlyk This seems very wasteful in terms of fossil fuels and my money for shipping.

Can we just send in sharpied copies of Madden 2001 instead? It gets the same point across and they're cheaper than paper at this point.

I think they more expected it to be inscribed/etched into the controller. I think that'd have more of an effect too.

Stuff like this does work from time to time. Twin Peaks had its last episodes aired because people sent in Barbie dolls wrapped in plastic. Sure, that's not politics, but you never know.

It may or may not do anything to change the mind the representative in question, but if his office actually got deluged in 10,000 video game controllers, the press would notice, other politicians would notice, gamers would notice. Political stunts can in fact work as a communication tool to spread your message.

I'll leave you with some of depeche mode's New Dress

"You can't change the world
But you can change the facts
And when you change the facts
You change points of view
If you change points of view
You may change a vote
And when you change a vote
You may change the world"

@NoirR That's horrible and dishonest. I hate that ends justifies the means garbage. The truth is are more important.

how the heck did you get that out of those lyrics? Clearly the song is not about the 'end justifying the means'.

My friend has a bunch of broken 360 controllers which he busted playing Call of Duty - out of rage. Couldn't that stand to argue the whole video games and violence theory??

If hitting inanimate objects is a measure of violence I would hate to know what type of violence boxing practice creates for poor punching bags.

@Daverator It's the outward display of violence he's talking about. A game is a game, it requires no physical interaction beyond pressing buttons (unless you're into motion gaming) and thus there should be no need to break a controller, Sure we all have from time to time but sending in busted controllers like this just puts the focus on gamers that got angry while playing games.

The ONLY good use for the GBA-GameCube link cables were Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and the Chao Garden in the Sonic Adventure games.

And LoZ: Four Swords. That game was great with enough people (and gameboys).

@trendscenedental PSO Ep. I & II Plus let you transfer three mini-games to your GBA using that cable. NiGHTS - Score Attack, Puyo Pop, a Chao Garden, and Tiny Chao's Garden.

I realize he's a public official so people deluging him with mailings might be ok. I was just wondering if it was illegal or if it would be considered harassment if he wasn't a public official. For example, if someone I know is allergic to beans, and I asked all my followers/friends on twitter/facebook/what-have-you to send in a can of beans to that someone, shouldn't that be considered harassment? I know I wouldn't want that much mail....

While I like this idea, I don't actually *have* any broken controllers. I've always taken care to treat my controllers well. I have stuff that's 20 years old and still works.
