Famitsu: XBLA shmup Omega Five coming to 3DS
12
It's okay if you don't remember Omega Five. The Natsume-developed side-scrolling shump hit XBLA (pictured) in early 2008 and has since shot into obscurity. According to Famitsu, the game is set to appear on Nintendo 3DS in Japan during Spring 2011 -- where it'll probably make a more memorable bow among a launch lineup otherwise devoid of "traditional" shoot-em-ups.
Hudson published Omega Five on XBLA. The company hasn't made a peep about the 3DS version, but we'll check in to see what -- if anything -- it has to say about a possible North American release.

Yet another reason to get a 3DS. A $350 price tag wouldn't scare me off at this point. And I'm broke as hell.

I know it's your money and all and you can do what you want but...if you're going to go into debt, don't do so for your hobbies.

Surprising that handhelds aren't a thriving ground for shmups really. I can only think of a handful for PSP and DS

What's Shmup? Or Shump? They spell it two different ways, and I don't know what the hell they're talking about? Just short for Shoot em up?

@Hoops It's annoying to no end, no matter what it means. The word needs to die.

Also, I remember buying this game, never finished it. They need to bring back Einhänder, that game was awesome.

I liked the 360 version, except for a couple of things, like
how if one player has played it long enough to unlock
unlimited credits, and they wanted to play with someone,
on a single console, who hadn't, the new player was
limited to three.
