@Ezio Auditore da Firenze '
Not sure if this will end up duped. I can't see my original post, so here it is again:
Back when it looked like MS's gaming phone would be coming from the Zune angle, someone coined the name "Phune". I like that one, and think it still applies.

Any definitive word on an iPod Touch equivalent for Windows Phone 7? I'd buy one for some games, but I don't need a new smartphone. The prospect of having cheevorinos®.

I really like XBox Live, but I don't need it on my mobile phone, and it does not make Windows Phone 7 more appealing to me.

@copa
They will give you quadruple gamerscore for achievements unlocked on windows phone 7. XBL-likers who are on the fence--and even in the next town from the fence--will find this too irresistible to pass up.

We have entered the sad age where achievements = money (for microsoft). The game itself is so passé.

I've been playing tetris for years, but it's okay if you haven't heard of it.

Do we know how many points mobile games are going to have?
I'm betting on 200.

It is 200. They mention that in one of those engadget videos.

I'm really hoping Sims 3 will interest my fiance into getting one. I've been sold for months on this phone.

Why are achievements so important to gamers nowadays? Serious question. I find it's pure OCD to be concerned about a gamerscore or trophies.

@thisredengine a large number of gamers, I'd guess, ARE OCD. At least the ones who have always considered themselves "Completionists" and have to unlock everything in the game that can be unlocked, including the achievements. I'm less concerned about overall score, but I definitely find myself wanting to unlock those image tiles so I don't have to look at the default "locked" icon. A game just feels unfinished if I don't get the achievements and it's definitely replay incentive for me.

@XperimntNterror although... I can honestly say that I would never purchase a game or device simply FOR the achievements.... THAT I don't get.

Apple's Gamecenter has "Achievements" and "Leaderboards", which look pretty much the same as anyone else's implementation. The problem right now is that it's new and not a lot of games have them yet. Microsoft will probably require devs to implement them. Of course, if Apple wants to, it can do that too!

I wish EA would port the XBLA version of Risk. That would work pretty well on a small screen, could be played with the asyncronous multiplayer that the phone supports and was a pretty decent version of risk.

What I would really kill for, IF YOU ARE LISTENING MS, is an XBLA/WP7 port of the original crimson skies board game (not the super lame Wizkids version). You already own the IP microsoft and it could be very awesome on both platforms

I can't seem to find out when I'd be getting this on Verizon, if it is even coming to that service.

Windows Mobile 7 and the addition of Achievements sounds fantastic... sucks that it`s too little too late - my iPhone 4 is already enroute with a 3 year contract.

Maybe in 2.5 years, I`ll pick up another Windows Mobile phone, however, my current Windows Mobile 6.1 phone is pretty lame and bare bones - so unless they redesigned everything (and not just add the achievement elements) then it`s probably not going to be very good anyway.

I read somewhere that it only requires a few lines of code and some 'down-scaling' to port an XBLA title to the phone. That's great and all, but I don't think that so many will control to well. Unless Microsoft bring out a more gaming orientated phone with a slide out controller or something
