I think Spector's made the decision, rightly or wrongly, to present Mickey as a hero no matter what he does. That being said, if the world reacts to Mickey's decision the way that Spector claims, there might be multiple paths to Oswald's brotherhood, and it might take different forms. If you're a use-just-thinner-and-let-the-gremlins-die kind of player, maybe Oswald comes onto your side, but he's scared of you, beaten down.
