Whenever you say Nathan Fillion, all a movie executive hears is "Jamie Foxx."

This is the easiest and most obvious casting decision in the history of movies that choosing anyone else would be a complete failure.

Fillion even has old people as fans now so he comes with a cross-demo audience built-in.

Not to mention the world needs a new Indiana Jones now that the original is old and the movies are crap and he was doing the Indiana Jones thing even in things that didn't need it.

It won't be the same without Nolan North's voice. He could fit the part... he already knows the character and has done so much mo-cap for him that it would be a shame not to use him... he even kinda looks like drake. a little.

yeah, it's a pity most Joystiq "readers" apparently can't read.

If you go back and look at the words that form a sentence then you'll see the use of the word "now" relating to the movies.

And if you are on the side of defending "Indy and the Crystal Refrigerator" or the next installment then I'd rather not be on your side. The more movies they make the more damage they do to the name.

Even more reason for a Nathan Drake franchise.

@Jakintosh You're right, it wont be the same without Nolan's voice and unique humor, that's what MADE the Uncharted games. All Nolan North has to do is get more in shape and he'd have that part on lock. Besides, why does Uncharted need a movie anyways? Uncharted basically IS a movie!

Nolan's unique humor? Whhhhhhaaaaaaaaaattttt?

Nolan's humor in Uncharted is basically a direct copy of Malcolm Reynolds, who of course, was played by Fillion.

True story, long before any of this came up, when I was telling my wife how awesome the first Uncharted was I told her it was basically Malcolm Reynolds in the jungle.

Saying it wouldn't be the same without Nolan's 'unique' humor is crazy. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if the Uncharted writers actually did base the character off of Reynolds.

@arkweld - Apparently, your definition of grammar and sentence structure is off:

"the movies are crap"

"Movies" implies plural, meaning "more than one"; some could take is as far as "all of them". You can now see where the downranking comes into play.

I swear Joystiq was calling it for someone else just last week.

Nathan Fillion would be awesome though. Depends if the studios have the balls to have him lead a movie which costs more than $2 without Joss Whedon at the helm

Voice acting and acting for the screen are not necessarily the same skill. In movies, we like to *see* our actors be "in the moment." :)

@mywhitenoise uhhhhh it wasn't like they didn't do jumping around and stuff as well....I mean they were pretty much doing the acting with the voices....dont forget they were capturing their movements AND facial expressions for the games.....they weren't JUST sitting in a booth doing voices....not to mention they are all actual actors as well....

Yeah, I'm not saying the two can't go together, I'm just saying they don't always do which might explain, in part, a studio's decision to go with someone like Nathan Fillion. Another reason would be relative star power.

Star Power? Nathan Fillion may not be A-List but I'd expect that Nolan North will need to prove himself in much more than Melrose Place and Pretty Little Liars before a studio would even consider it as financially viable. Well, an unknown could work if the property was a big deal to offset it, but in this case it's not (at least not a big deal outside of us gamers).

Plus Nathan Fillion is awesome

Just to throw out some actual alternative to Nathan Fillion...

Bradley Cooper as Nathan

oh and...
Emily Rose as Elena

Nathan Drake:
----------------------------------
Nathan Fillion (just awesome)
Bradley Cooper (by far the more expensive option, but probably the biggest name/box office draw)
Joe Flanigan (very underrated ability to play the role)

Elena Fisher:
----------------------------------
Emily Rose (explanation necessary?)
Yvonne Strahovski (beautiful blonde who is a familiar face to the general public)
Kristen Bell (see Bradley Cooper above.)
