Best part is, I could write pretty much the same review off of just playing the small demo released.

It was that horrible. Only part I'd of missed out on was multiplayer, and well... I could probably of taken a shot in the friggin dark and got it right.

And by the sound of it, still overpriced.

If it drops to $30 or $20 I'll pick it up. No way with it's price right now. I'm all for confusing stories and awkward aiming but not with that price tag.

Some games will never be worth getting no matter how low the price. I learnt my lesson with Stormrise.

I liked the stage design in the demo. It definitely evoked the felling that a giant robot had taken a dump all over the room just before you entered. I'm assuming the story of the game had something to do with you tracking down that robot and curing his mercury-infused diarrhea.

This game was doomed from when they first thought of the idea.

Why even use a 5 star system? It seems like the vast majority of reviews have included a half star

@Cleric
The stars represent statements about the quality of the game, they think its between two levels.

"Should I buy this game?"
2. No, unless this is your favorite type of game and you're starved for more.
1. No.

So "Maybe" you should buy this game if gears of war is your favorite and you are starved for more.

the demo sucked like hell, ugly textures with seams everywhere, poor lighting, bad bad bad all around.. now vanquish, there's a fun gears clone.

@antv
Vanquish is in no way a Gears clone. It's completely different. No cover-based combat if you actually try too play it properly (most of my plays of the demo were around 7 minutes, each with 3% (approximately 12 seconds total) of the time in cover), it's really fast-paced, the dash move is tons of fun, you have multiple options for fighting enemies, you have a scoring system which rewards you for fast kills and various other things (like NOT taking cover), you have that bullet-time mechanic which you have to use strategically... Gears has none of that. It's slow, boring, and the only "option" you have in battle is taking cover, shooting enemies from said cover.
Quantum Theory is exactly like Gears, it's just as boring and slow.

@(Unverified) let's be fair here, opinions of the genre and playstyle aside, Quantum Theory is a far cry from Gears. For one thing Gears was one of the first TPS' to successfully implement cover and it was also able to do it with an impressive layer of polish and refinement. Quantum Theory is basically Gears of War in the pre-alpha phase, that is to say, bad, unfinished and sloppy.

10 bucks would be overpriced. no one would buy it since they could just get the real gears of war for that price

i didn't even have hope for this game, no wonder they went multiplat. it would have been a bad PS3 exclusive, ala Haze

@endgamer77 And if you only have a PS3 I would recommend Dark Sector instead. Not a bad Gears clone and can be gotten dirt cheap.

@1000thghost High looking production cost? I played the demo on PS3 and it gave me the idea that if the N64 was a next gen system this is what it's games would look like. Maybe it had a cool CGI trailer or something, but in-game looked like ass.

@Pure Black World Tendency

What, you can't buy Dark Sector on the 360?

How about, if you have a PS3 or a 360, and were thinking of buying this game, just buy Dark Sector instead. It is equally bad in its story telling but it has slightly better gameplay.

@Mal F4cti0n You could buy it for the 360 if you had it. He means if you ONLY have a PS3, Dark Sector is a good alternative to this trash. He never said it was a PS3 exclusive.

I remember watching the announcement trailer for this game and thinking it was terrible looking and that they would somehow redesign the whole game before launch...then I played the demo, I think they just made it worse.
