Report: LoveFilm coming to UK PS3 next month

In the United States (and also Canada) we have a wondrous thing called Netflix. In the UK and other European territories, there's a similar miracle called LoveFilm, and thanks to a supposedly official video announcement -- which has been pulled from the Sony YouTube channel on which it emerged -- an app for the video rental service is coming to PS3.

The video was spotted by Everything PlayStation and promised access to the LoveFilm rental and streaming service would be available on the PS3 as of next month. Accessible via the XMB, the app will apparently allow subscribers to manage their movie queues right from the console and stream available content -- or have anything else mailed on disc.

"From Autumn, film fans on LoveFilm subscription packages can start streaming thousands of titles through their TV to their PS3. Open up a world of interactivity and scroll through popular titles and search through categories including 'Pick of the Week', 'Most watched' and 'Highest Rated'. Free trials and incentives will be made available to those who are not already a LoveFilm subscriber so no-one misses out! With thousand of popular titles available on LoveFilm, there will never be a shortage of great films to watch."

I just got Netflix on PS3 a few days ago, and I'm loving it.

Congrats to the UK. i am using the free trial of Netflix here in Canada and i think it's great ! but only thing is i wish it had more things i truely wanna watch. i am open to watching many new things specially things i have never heard of, i didn't know a Devil May Cry Anime existed i watched the first episode and i thought it was not too bad but then again i never watched hardly any anime's before. I think when they get more things to instant stream i will pay monthly for it.

Just curious tho. i can't watch The Boondocks season 3 on the netflix tho it says it's available but when you highlight it, it says 15 Episodes then when you actually click into it, it says 4 Episodes and your not able to watch anything at all...... is their a way this stuff can be reported to netflix to get it fixed ?

It's also on Hulu, along with a ton of other anime.
lrn2proxy, and you might not even need netflix.

@Faenix yea, like i said had no idea a DMC Anime existed till i started my Netflix Trial. it's only 1 Season i think 12 Episodes long. about 20 Mins a piece

@R Planteer yea here in Canada we can't access Hulu it's not in our country but, the other thing you speak of i never heard of it.

Proxy. Fool Hulu into thinking you live in the U.S. Doable primarly via VPN.

A little bit of Binging (ha! see what I did there?), some self education, and a bit of luck and you could get it to work.

Any word on which subscriber packages it will work with? I'm on the cheapest one because I'm cheap.

@senorwhoppy The LoveFilm streaming service is on several TVs & Blu Ray players already. Their website lists which packages you have to subscribe to in order to benefit from that. I imagine it's the same for this.

Cheers,, it looks like it will be £9.99 for unlimited online viewing with unlimited discs (1 at a time) which is reasonable.
