Chibi-Robo creator tweeting for a Moon sequel

Kenichi Nishi, founder of Chibi-Robo developer Skip, as well as LOL developer Route24, is gauging interest in a sequel to his 1997 PlayStation RPG Moon: A Remix RPG Adventure via Twitter. If you're not familiar with Moon, it's an inventive RPG about a child sucked into the world of a (fictional) RPG, also called Moon. After playing through the game in his real life, he must then follow in the path of an insane, level-hungry "Hero" in the game's world, and help bring peace to the souls of the monsters murdered for XP. Showing your support for the sequel (and, likely, helping Nishi find a publishing partner to fund its development) couldn't be easier: simply include the #moon2 hashtag in your tweets. In the event that Moon 2 does get made, Nishi has already said he "hopes" to bring it to the west as well.

I don't see how "gauging interest" via twitter, let alone by someone who is relatively unknown, for a relatively obscure (don't hate) game would be effective enough. I'd say that for a game like this, you'd have to create interest.

I know a lot of people use twitter, but who really would have known about this right now, hadn't Joystiq posted it?

I'm not saying that a sequel would be a bad idea. In fact, I don't remember the original. The game actually sounds interesting.

Well, Joystiq did post it, and that ought to help increase awareness of the game significantly. Now, if only there were a way in which those of us who don't speak Japanese could play it and find out how great it (allegedly) is.

I've heard great things about Moon (mostly from GhaleonQ, a.k.a. Nishi's #1 Fanboy), and would be eager to play it if a translation of some sort existed. Either way, this Kenichi Nishi guy seems to come up with some pretty original and interesting ideas for games. I hope he gets the chance to make Moon 2, and I especially hope that, unlike the first one, it might actually make its way over here.

While I'm here, though, it's worth noting: Dear Nintendo. I know you've worked with Nishi a bunch of times before, so I'm going to assume that you guys and him are buds. If you maybe, perhaps, wanted to see about funding and publishing this "Moon 2", it could, you know, maybe go a long ways toward making up for the Mother 3 debacle. Just saying.
