Crazy Taxi picking up fares Nov. 23 on PSN, Nov. 24 on XBLA

It'll be time to make some crazy money when the PSN and XBLA versions of Crazy Taxi pick you up in November. Hitting PSN first on the 23rd and then XBLA on the 24th, Crazy Taxi will cost $10 and offer widescreen support with 720p HD graphics. Pick up passengers across the San Francisco-ish landscape in either Arcade Mode or Original Mode, or try out the 16 minigames that "hone taxi-driving skills."

For the purists, be aware that the licensed music and products will not be present in this version. That means no Pizza Hut, and a complete lack of The Offspring and Bad Religion. That may actually be a blessing, depending on how many times you played Crazy Taxi back in the day.

Crazy Taxi Available for Hire Again this November

SEGA Dreamcast and Arcade Classic Coming to Xbox LIVE® Arcade and PlayStation® Network

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (13th October 2010) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. andSEGA® of America, Inc. announced today that the HD remake of Crazy Taxi ™ will be available for download worldwide this November. This re-mastered classic will arrive on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft on 24th November and on the PlayStation® Network on 23rd November (for America) and 24th November (for Europe and Australia) . Players will be able to hurtle off parking garage roofs and barrel through traffic-packed streets for a low fare of 800 Microsoft points or $9.99/ / £6.29/ €7.99/ AU$ 12.95.

"Crazy Taxi is the second installment in our Dreamcast revival, and we hope this release will prove every bit as nostalgic to fans as Sonic Adventure did last month!" said Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at SEGA.

New features in this remake include high-definition 720p graphics presented in a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio, leaderboards and trophy awards, and two game types to experience – Arcade Mode and Original Mode. Classic features making a comeback include sixteen minigames that hone taxi-driving skills, huge San Francisco-style hills for plenty of hang time, and occasional deep-sea exploration opportunities.

This game HAS to have the original soundtrack.

This is easily solved, though. I'll just download the songs and create a playlist on my Xbox to play over the game.

I will miss the Pizza Hut, Levi's Store, and KFC stops.

The pc version also had different music.

However I believe you could simply replace the MP3's with whatever you wanted, as long as they were named the same, and it would play them. So you could put The Offspring back in.

I still have the original and I bet alot of gamers still do so why bother porting this over, especially if it's losing a bunch of what made it so unique.

There are thousands of other arcade games that still have not seen the light of day that should get released.

What was the good Simpson's driving game? They should bring that to XBLA next.

@mondeca Road Rage was the Crazy Taxi rip-off. There will probably be varying opinions as to whether or not it was a good game. I personalled quite enjoyed it, though I've never played the original Crazy Taxi which I've read is much better (I only played the Gamecube port which I still found to be a lot of fun so I'm looking forward to this when it hits XBLA).

@Mcmax3000 Yes, Road Rage was the CT rip-off, but it was Hit & Run that I was thinking of. A rip-off of GTA3, but a good game, regardless.

A lack of The Offspring is never a good thing, even in Schindler's List.

Luckily custom soundtracks will fix this.

If Sega can't be bothered to get the rights/permission for Offspring, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell? I can't be bothered to buy it

I'm really torn on this. Considering I own the original and have my PS2 hooked up still I could just play that. But 720p on my Xbox 360 sounds great too.

STOP PLAYING COY WITH MY EMOTIONS, SEGA.

No licensed music and other content. No big deal, if they meaningful replace it. Replace the music with updated and remixed classic Sega tracks, replace all the billboards and resturants with mock resturants like "Dr. Robotnicks Sausage Haus" or whatever. Have some fun with it! That way we get a double dose of nostalgia.

Of course, on the flip side, why not release the game for ubercheap and make use of some serious advertising dollars, I'm sure Sega can find a few companies to pay top dollar for some ingame signage.
