Rock Band DLC web widget makes sense of 2000 song setlist
25
So, yeah, there are a lot of songs playable in Harmonix's various Rock Band games. More than 2,000 in fact, encompassing Rock Band Network, LEGO Rock Band, Rock Band 1, 2 and soon, Rock Band 3. In an effort to help make finding out if the song you want is among those, the developer has created an embeddable web widget that lets you search by artist, song title, year and genre (then sort within those results).
It's really pretty handy -- we've embedded it after the break, actually, so you can give it a try. If you'd like to stick it on your websitethingy, grab the widget here. Those familiar with iframes and other such web two-point-oh terms will know what to do with it.

This is pretty cool and definitely needed. Will have to bookmark to refer back to it. Loads much quicker then the song list on RockBand.com.

It should have a console filter so I don't see songs I can't buy for my PS3.

Would be even better if the widget played clips from each song...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't they had this up for over a year now... I know it used to be black and all it looks like is they changed the color to blue...

It's a nice start, and needed, but I would like to see it become a bit more robust. Seems like a tool like this should include every single song, even the ones on disc. That way if you skipped a particular disc, you could still learn that it had a particular song or artist on it.
Also, as the commenter above said, sortable by console in case there are any exclusives would be nice too.
Also, also, price and restrictions (like what's playable in Lego vs RB3).

@Courtney
Okay, I amend that previous statement a little.
If you click on anything except song title, it sorts by that. But if you click on a song title, it takes you to that songs entry on the RB site, where most of the info I asked about is in fact shown. Seems though that if all of that is already in a database, at least some of the information could still be shown in the widget instead of forcing you to go to the RB site.

Yeah, definitely a good start, but I'd like to see them do what Rockstar does and link your RB login with your console account, so you could sort through the songs you own. Maybe add other stats too, like trophies and such.

neat little thingy and much faster than the list on Rock Band's website, but i wish it also told me where to find the song (DLC, RB1, Lego RB, etc.).
i'm sure it's definitely handy for some people, but i'll still be sticking with the full-featured list on their website.

"Weezer - 12 entries"
That's odd. It felt like we were getting Weezer songs every other week for a while there.

Nice little widget, but iFrames are pretty much the antitheses of "web 2.0." Props for at least trying to make the joke, though.
