WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 getting 'Fan Axxess' DLC delivery program

Bros, oil up them chests and get ready to bump 'em because THQ has announced a new DLC delivery program for WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 called "Fan Axxess." Yeah, bro -- it's totally called "Fan Axxess."

Spend 800 MS Points ($9.99) on Xbox 360 or PS3 and you'll be placed in the Fan Axxess program, a system that "will enable WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 owners to obtain select downloadable content released throughout the life of the videogame." This "select content" will include "a number of playable WWE Legends, WWE Superstars and WWE Divas, alternate ring gear, playable arenas, a WWE Superstar Attribute Customizer, instant access to all unlockable content and an in-game badge," identifying you as Fan Axxess member.

If you're not interested in purchasing a label or its accompanied liberal use of the letter X, you can purchase each DLC pack individually. THQ has lined up the first few, so head past the break for the details.

The first download pack, scheduled for "Holiday 2011" (560 MS Points/ $6.99 PSN without Fan Axxess) includes:

WWE Legends British Bulldog and Lex Luger, WWE Superstars Wade Barrett, David Otunga and Justin Gabriel, and WWE Diva Layla
Alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars Shawn Michaels and Shad
A playable WWE NXT arena

The second download pack, scheduled for "early 2011" (240 MS Points/ $2.99 PSN without Fan Axxess) includes:

Alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars John Cena, Undertaker and CM Punk
A playable WCW arena

Finally, the last two items available for download outside of "Fan Axxess" include the "WWE Superstar Attribute Customizer," which will be available as a separate download for 80 MS Points or $.99 on PSN, as well as an instant unlock for up to 60 different items in the game -- the latter will also cost 80 MS Points or $.99 on PSN.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but the fact that they are only offering "select" dlc is worrisome.

The total cost of the announced dlc is only $12 and I doubt most people will buy it all. So $10 for "Fan Axxess" doesn't seem that special right now

So, they want you to prepay for future DLC that they may or may not include under the "Fan Axxess" tarp?

Cool story, bro.

This is reminiscent of "Cerberus" which was the DLC network for Mass Effect 2. Wasn't anything ridiculously thrilling about it because Zaeed was worthless and the Normandy Crash Site was a joke.

I can see this being similar (if not worse).

Cerberus network was included with the purchase of a new copy. This is $10 bucks on top of the price of a new copy (and buy it new if you want online play).

I'll admit, I am not interested in wrestling, nor have I played a wrestling videogame since (something) on the Genesis.

They move better, but it does seem like they've hit their peak of how good they can do it without employing some new tech under the hood. It's still nothing amazing

There weren't. There was some for 09 which had Jericho's alternate attire, and I think like Ted Dibiase? 10 might have had Stone Cold later for download, but that was originally a pre-order bonus.

@Cleric Yeah, I just looked it up on Marketplace. I was thinking of the SvR09 DLC, not SvR10.

Will some of the future DLC make the gameplay better? As in, more like No Mercy.

The only problem I have with this is the fact that they are offering DLC early means they were making the DLC along side developement. That really gets me upset. DLC is supposed to be made after the games release. I understand that they'll start on 2012 sometime early next year but they can whip up DLC until they start working on the next game. I really don't like knowing what they'll have for DLC weeks before the game even launches

@Prboi How does it mean that the DLC was made along side the game? It just means that the DLC was planned ahead of time. It doesn't mean that it was being worked on before the game was finished.

Lex Luger and a playable WCW arena? God, if they managed to create a Monday Night Nitro arena from 1997, I'm in.
