The Arcade Classic "Guwange": Available Worldwide Wednesday November 10th on Xbox LIVE Arcade
CAVE Co. Ltd. (Located in Shinjuku, Japan) is proud to announce the worldwide release date of its first Xbox Live Arcade exclusive title, "Guwange" November 10th (Wednesday) at a budget price of 800 Microsoft Points.
ABOUT "GUWANGE" Guwange is a vertical scrolling shooting game, launched in Japanese arcades in 1999. Set in the Muromachi period of Japanese history, Guwange tells the tale of the "Shikigami users", hosts to ghostly avatars called Shikigami. Unlike other CAVE shooting games, known for their fighter craft and destructive machinery, the heroes of Guwange walk across the demonic landscape on their quest to rid themselves of the Shikigami curse, cutting a swath through enemies.
Players choose from one of three characters: Shishin, Kosame and Gensuke, on a journey to slay the evil god of Mt. Gokumon, Guwange itself. Accompanying them are their Shikigami familiars: Rikiou, Yatsuhisha and Kirinmaru.
Each character has their own story, ending and dramatic touches, giving the world of Guwange a distinctive Japanese flair.
11 years of Arcade Exclusivity, Finally an Xbox LIVE Port! Answering the Voices of CAVE Fans Worldwide!
In 2009, CAVE's Producer Makoto Asada held a survey at the official CAVE Development Blog (Japanese) about CAVE shooter titles that users wish to see ported to Xbox LIVE. The most popular title was Guwange at No. 1, with a strong showing by overseas fans.
Given these results, CAVE proceeded with development on Guwange for XBLA, and now it is ready for international release.
■ Guwange Features Guwange features the following game modes:
Play the Arcade version of "Guwange" in its original form.
An Arrange version created exclusively for the Xbox LIVE release. For people who find the Arcade version difficult or newcomers to shooting games, Arrange features a more accessible game design.
Adapted for the Xbox360 controller, play Guwange with both Analog Sticks.
・ Your character's shot will automatically fire, leaving you room to concentrate on maneuvering your character.
・ Hold down the R trigger to summon your Shikigami. While your Shikigami attacks enemies,
your character is free to advance and attack.
・ While your Shikigami is out, and the "Skull Mark" at the top of the screen starts flashing gold, your character will be able to slow down all bullets on screen. But watch out! Using this ability will summon demonic bats from around the screen that home in on your character.
A special remixed version of Guwange, previously shown only at a CAVE fan event in Tokyo. A more difficult version of the arcade classic for those who can't get enough medieval bullet hell.
Extra Display Options
CAVE has built special display options into Guwange which allow players to display their score, remaining lives, number of bombs etc. in extra windows to the side of the main game window. Customize your graphic settings to your TV or monitor, and enjoy Guwange in your own style!
