And I don't even want to think about how long it would take to scroll though all those to find the one you want.

Either way a 1,000 friends will make it much easier finding a party for BC2 or Halo Reach BTB. My friends list is about to be epic...

Two words. Gaming communities.

Aside from filling up your list with tons of people to play with, a lot of these sites also use XBL's friends of friends feature to create gaming groups.

You set up an XBL silver user named something like "123gamers halo players", then everyone on 123gamers (made up site) who plays Halo adds themselves to that friends list. Then, when you want to play Halo, you look at that friends list's friends list, and you can see everyone at the site who plays that game and enjoys playing Halo, and send party invites to them.

@PlatinumSkeet I maxed out @ 100 quick because I have a Zune too....but I have a feeling I will hit 500 friends now EASY.....tho I do think 1000 is ridiculous.....especially when trying to send out invites....hope they add group options as well

You can turn off notifications (although I see your point - with notifications on and 1,000 friends, I imagine you would just have a constant stream of never-ending back to back notifications popping up).

And I don't think it's a matter of creating this for people who might happen to have 1,000 friends - it's just as high a number as they can accommodate put there to essentially allow unlimited friends.

Disable notifications you disable notifications for achievements as well I believe. There needs to be an option to disable only notifications for when friends come online.

This wasn't worth giving up Conker: Live & Reloaded, Phantom Dust, and Crimson Skies over. At least give us a myriad of friends list organizational tools, an expanded profile, and group or clan support.

This is a great idea. Being able to sort friends by groups like our IM buddy lists would be fantastic.

Even deeper settings like notification settings, their type and frequency. While I might not be playing with my "general" friends list all the time, it'd be nice to only see their notifications when they log on to the game I'm playing.

That's great and all, but I always end up deleting all the friends I don't know personally because the list gets too big and it becomes hard to find my real-life friends. Hopefully they're adding a way to categorize friends, so I can have a list with my real friends that always stays at the top and the rest of the randoms below. Bonus points if I can turn off notifications for the randoms and leave them on for my real friends.

I'm at 55 friends right now. They are all people that I know in person, even though I may not be good friends with them. Never having to worry about hitting a cap sure would be nice.

I think not having to address a cap ever again is probably the reason Microsoft might move it to 1,000. I don't even think somebody like Major Nelson would fill a friends list of 1,000 because like most people he probably only adds people he knows in real life.

Are you saying someone you talk to online everyday rather it be via xbox live, aim, or a phone but you have never actually meet the person because they live 5 states away isn't a real friend? Even with Netflix now on xbox you can watch movie with these "non-real friends". You can tell them about your day and how you read someone idiots post on a blog and it turned into some big rant because they just told you that you weren't really my friend.

jerk....

I'd be nice to be able to separate my friends list into "Real Friends," "Casual acquaintances," and "Rando dudes I met on teh Xbox Lives." Then I could still have giant friends leader boards but keep my usual inviting to the people I usually play with.

Xbox LIVE should hire me. I got bunches of ideas!

exactly. plus the ability to make some kind of note on each gamertag, so that for someone in my IRL friend's category, i could put their real name, and for someone in my rando category, i could put something to help my remember who they are like "met in the beta" or something.
