I wouldn't say the reason it's slowing down is due to the online, I do think it has to do with the over saturation. However Nintendo really needs a better online system, that's something we can all agree on.

I don't play my Wii anymore because there are NO games that really interest me in it. Aside from first party titles the gaming library just sucks anymore. As a Nintendo fanboy, that saddens me.

As an owner of all 3 systems, I don't really get why the 360 still sells so well. I got my 360 first, excited by Gears of War 2, and it was fun for a little while, but it always felt like it was missing something. Then I got the wii, and the novelty wore off fast on that. Finally I got my PS3, and I've been having a blast with it since. I've purchased games at a faster rate for this system than any of my past systems.

I guess If you already have a huge library of games on the 360, then you might like it more, but the extra features on my ps3 just make me so much more comfortable with it. The new 360 looks kinda cool, but still. I'm inheriting a fairly large amount of 360 games, but even with some nice games, I can't help but feel that with the PS3 controller they'd be better.

Also, I know they got a new d-pad, but geeze was the d-pad a controller problem. I bought Dead Space again for my PS3 just so I wouldn't have to suffer through the awful menus. I know it's more of an opinion thing, but as someone who has experienced all 3, and had more games on my 360 when I got my PS3, my PS3 is by far the greatest system I've ever owned, and undoubtedly worth the $100 premium over 360.

@psyXcho For me, one of the big things is the controller. The 360 controller is great for Gears of War, but some games it just doesn't feel right.

One bad thing about PS3 was the early exclusives though. Uncharted was awesome, but some were just terrible. Even as a big fan of MGS, I loathe MGS4, and see it and Resistance as some of the worst games I've ever played - and I've played Deathtrap Dungeon. 360 has some good exclusives, but a lot of the multiplatform games feel better to me on my PS3, which is a big selling point for me. However, a lot of people already have friends on 360. Like, only one of my friends has a PS3 yet, so that's another downside.

@ybfelix I thought R1 worked just fine. I don't really like the triggers that much. They feel to me like they go down too far. I liked using R1 on dead space to fire more than the triggers on my 360. It seems to me like it's a bit easier to rapidly tap R1, and the controls generally seem a bit tighter since the layout is closer together.

Still, for Gears of War, the controller is just fine, no problems except the d-pad occasionally goofing. It's just that other games I find problems with that the PS3 doesn't seem to have.

Well, it's selling so well now for a few reasons.

It's cheaper than the PS3, and there are still plenty of potential buyers (either last-gen gamers or new ones) that have avoided getting a current gen upgrade due to cost.

It just got a big release in Halo: Reach. Sufficiently large games tend to draw a bit of a new audience.

It still has arguably the best, most comprehensive library of this generation of consoles, and while it isn't free, the sheer quality and popularity of Xbox Live (gold) is a big part of the console's success. The PS3 is more expensive, and the two share a lot of the biggest games.

Both consoles are quite competent and roughly equivalent, so I think it should be easy to see that if you enjoy the PS3 so much, there are bound to be people out who feel the same about their 360s.

As an example, I get all my 3rd party games on 360, if I can help it. Online is a plus, but my main reason is the controller. I'm a huge fan of the 360 pad.

So I think the fact that so many people are praising 360 pad means something. You like PS3 pad, that's fine, but it's not really to hard to imagine that lots of others prefer 360's

correction: I first try to get all my games on PC, but some developers are too cheap to make even a rough port of their 360/PS3 games on the PC.

Then I go with 360. If it's a PS3-exclusive, I'll happily play it on that system, but I can't help but wish there was a decent 3rd party PS3 controller that was as much like the 360 pad as possible, AND supports SIXAXIS stuff so the few dumb games that force SIXAXIS features are still playable.

The PS3 controller won't feel that new when you first pick it up, but if you play with it a while and go pick up a ps2 controller, then the ps2 controller just feels weird. Like, the way the L2 and R2 buttons kinda overhang is awkward.

For a person who has played all 3 (I own only 360 & wii) I find the 360 experience to be the best out of all of them. Yes, I don't own a PS3 so I can't really say 360 is better but judging from what I have used it, it seems pretty basic. Everything is in its own section & you'd have to know where everything is in order to fully utilize. One thing I feel the 360 has over the PS3 for me is the dashboard. I find the 360 dashboard to be more pleasing to look at than the PS3's menu. It seems like they didn't even try. I know they have special themes you can buy that change the font & stuff but the layout stays the same. I just like how everything you'd want to know about is right there on the dashboard & there's not much navigation involved. I have Absolutely no problem with the PS3 & I think it's an awesome console, but the lack of good exclusive titles & bland menu system (Not to mention, none of my friends that I know of has a PS3), 360 is my choice. But it all depends on what you like. PS3 makes the best entertainment console as a whole & the 360 is a better community/social console.

@Prboi Yeah, the XMB isn't as flashy, and I do wish that they would do a better job with it, but I actually like it more than the dashboard. First off, I don't like the shades 360 uses. If they were a little darker or even brighter, I wouldn't mind it as much. The XMB might not be as flashy, but I feel that it's far more organized and gives more options. Plus, my 360 ALWAYS it advertising crap to me. Like, I just want to do one simple thing, yet 9/10 buttons on it are advertisements for Halo, and I don't like Halo.

I mean, the What's new section on PS3 has advertisements, but its subjects seem more diverse, and the boxes are small so that I can quickly scan and see whether things interest me. The PS store just slaughters XBLM for me though. It's so much more well organized and easy to use. I never have a problem finding things (except for when the search brings up trailers and stuff, because there's always a billion of those, and no one cares about them). Plus, PS store has download titles that are actually pretty neat, and while Limbo sounds pretty cool, it's not enough for me to start using my 360 again.

Oh, and Ezio, it's alright for him to say lack of good exclusives, because early on, exclusives sucked. I mean, 360 has insanely overrated ones, such as halo (which has always been ridiculously overrated), and Fable 2 (which I didn't think was as fun as an experience as the first). Alan Wake interests me, but PS3 came out with some great exclusives after the first couple years. Uncharted 2 was pretty good, and now Sony is getting special content added into games (see Arham Asylum, Dead Space 2, etc.)

The one thing that annoys me though is when people cite the number of 360 games. A lot of 360 games were games that were also on PS2, and weren't even really that great. It's a positive, but only a small one. I'm worried more about the content of my system, not about the amount.

I've always thought the 360 interface was just too.. busy. I like how the XMB is simpler, and more elegant, so to speak, and allows me to get to whatever I want to without a lot of fuss. And I'm not bombarded with advertisements while I'm trying to get to something.

Though I wouldn't go quite as far as saying that stuff like Halo and Gears is overrated. People obviously like them for a reason, and Microsoft has done a pretty good job at keeping those fanbases rabid at the years roll by.

I dunno. I bought my 360 and I just don't find myself using it much as I use my PS3. I love Splinter Cell: Conviction and Alan Wake, but past that, there's nothing else I want on the 360. I think it's a fine machine, and I love it, but something about it has never 'clicked' with me.

Well of course there will be advertisements for halo because 1) Halo Reach came out a month ago & 2) Halo made the xbox what it is. I have a friend who didn't even know what Halo was until he saw the trailer for Reach on the dashboard. MS is pushing their titles so they can get more people to buy them instead of hoping people will remember to buy it. The dashboard when the 360 launched litterally had nothing to inform me when something new came out. I would have to manually go to the marketplace & look to see if something new popped up. & if you didn't know, the 360 update that's coming soon adds new color schemes & font. It's white & light grey now. & Limbo isn't the only good arcade game, There's also, Shadow Comlex, Castlevania: Harmony Of Despair, The Maw, Spolsion Man, Comic Jumper, Toy Soldiers, Monday Night Combat just to name a few. You can't really judge those games since you probably didn't know about them same way as I don't know about PSN titles

@Prboi I didn't mean advertisements now. I haven't looked on the dashboard for around over a month now. I usually just use my 360 to play dvds if I don't wanna move my PS3 to the bigger tv. And, I wasn't saying Limbo was the only good game. I've heard good things about the Castlevania game, my point was just that the good games seem to be limited. Like, on the what's new panel on PS3, it seems to be far more diverse while the dashboard will either have 50 billion halo things, or boxes for stuff that came out so long ago I have no idea why they're still showing it.

The dashboard may be better than what it was, but my point is it should still be better. I mean, why not just update it? Like Ezio said, the XMB has something elegant about it, even if it is more simple. However, the one thing Sony really needs to fix is the XMB when it pops up during a game. On 360, it isn't the entire dashboard, so why is it the whole XMB during a game? You can;t use 90% of those buttons during a game anyways, you'd have to exit to the menu. Ultimately though, while the PS3 does have an insane amount of buttons on the XMB, they have a lot of nice options, some that most people won't even know what they do.

Oh and Ezio, I wasn't saying GOW was overrated. I'm burnt out on it now since I played 2 so much, but I actually liked it a lot. Halo is what is so overrated, because nothing about it is special. It's mediocre. Not bad, but not great. It's fun in short bursts. But once again, control wise, I feel like they could make GOW control just fine on PS3, but I feel like a lot of PS3 games would have problems on the 360 controller.

Well you're basing your judgement on what you've experience months ago. The only thing that is on the dashboard that is about halo is Halo Waypoint. But it wouldn't be any different if it was Gears 3 coming out. By you saying there aren't advertisements on the PS3 means to me that Sony isn't pushing their content to the consumer. If Sony wants to makes money they have to have more than just a "What's New" section. At least that's how I feel. I like know what's new in every category whether it be movies, games, add ons or music & not just a generally what's new. & too me it seems like the only problem you have is that there's too much Halo ads. You don't like Halo but A LOT of people do. & calling Halo Reach mediocre is like saying Avatar was mediocre. As far as i know, basically everyone respects the Halo franchise for what is has done regardless of if they like it or not. Halo brought matchmaking to consoles, the first to use a robust friend system, & Halo also proved that FPS games can survive on a console.

@Prboi I didn't say Sony didn't advterise, but they do it tastefully. The What's new ad will have 12 or 16 boxes (You can scroll down) of small snapshots of interesting content. You can start your game here as well and it shows you what you've recently played. As for seeing new movie additions Sony has that too. If you go over under music sections on the XMB, then it shows you only new movie stuff. Microsoft will hamper you with ads. My brother tried to cancel his subscription to Xbox Live since he'll be gone for a while, but finding out how online is nearly impossible. They moved the spot to do it at, so it's not just under account or something like that. When he finally got to the page and clicked to stop autorenewing, it asked him if he was trying to renew for MORE gold. When he said skip this page so he could cancel, it gave him more advertisements like games he could play. He went through FOUR pages of this until it would let him cancel his subscription. That's ridiculous.

My PS3 never annoys me with advertisements. It keeps them quietly off to the side so that I can view them when I want. It's not just that it doesn't have Halo advertisements, it's that its advertisements are relevant to what's going on at the time, commonly change, and don't take up the entire screen for one thing. I don't care what people think about Halo. There's a ton of people who do own and occasionally play it who don't think it's the reason for modern games. People act like it's revolutionary because it's done nothing new. It was an early online game for consoles, but online gaming was just starting to catch on then. Even so, consoles were already starting to get online ideas to be added on.

If what you said before is true, and Halo really did make the 360, then it must not be a very good system for only one game, huh? Even when I was into Gears 2 I felt this way. But anyways, this isn't important or even about the main topic that I dislike the 360 for its controller, the systems lack of certain features/designs, and it's ridiculously unforgiving advertising.

The way you describe the advertising is like it's annoying pop ups when that isn't even the case with the 360.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MRhJcDc_4o

Watch that video for a few minutes. Does it seem like there's necessary advertising? If it's in the game marketplace tab, there's ads for new games, add ons & arcade games that you can download? Is that unnecessary? No because if it's a highly profiled game then it saves you the time of going to the actual marketplace to look for it. I don't get what you're saying about those adds because they are actually helpful to see what's new. As for the controller, that's entirely up to the gamer. Everybody is going to have their own preference. Same reason why PC gamers hate controllers in general. No controller is better than another. I prefer the 360 controller over the PS3's because if fits perfectly in my hands & has the right weight to it while the PS3's controller feels too light & flimsy (lighter than the PS2's which I liked) & the buttons don't give me that feedback like with the 360. But again, that's my preference, you most likely feel the exact opposite & I understand. & about Halo again, basically every reviewer from highly know to indie doesn't really have a problem with Halo as much as you do. I understand if there was more people who actually gave reasons to why Halo isn't as good as people make it out to be instead of following the hate train like people did with MW2. You have no idea how many people say "Halo sux" & when I ask them why they just say "It just sux". & like I said a few comments ago, it's all about what you like. I like know about what's new right before I even go to look for what is new while you don't like the ads. I like the feel of the 360 controller while you like the PS3's. You prefer PSN games while I prefer arcade games.

It's pretty disappointing that when people think of 360 exclusives, they immediately cite Alan Wake or Fable but never Rez HD or 'Splosion Man.

Sounds to me like you just don't WANT to like the 360. You say that the dashboards colors are off, and if they were just a tad bit lighter or darker they would be OK? C'mon man, don't you think that's a little nitpicky? I will agree with you that the d-pad sucks, but how often do you really use it? I played Dead Space also, hell, I beat it on the hardest mode with no cheats or fancy suits, but I did not find the d-pad so terrible that it made the game any harder for me.

Personally, I find it to be a bit ridiculous that people are constantly saying which console is "best". The PS3 and 360 are so similar that it just doesn't matter anymore. I think the 360 is better by default simply because it came out first.

Most of my favorite games this gen are multiplatform anyhow, so I have not found much of a reason to invest in a PS3. Bluray players are great and everything, but I don't really feel like buying my entire DVD collection all over again.

I think Sony is the biggest loser this gen, simply because they have disappointed me so much...They released a console a year late that is very similar to Microsoft's (including late achievement/trophy support), they sometimes get content/games a year later than Microsoft, they made PSN just to compete with XBL and ended up copying almost everything about it, and their newest console simply cannot fill the boots of the PlayStation 2 or even the original PSX. Also, where's all the originality and great RPGs that made the PS2 so great? Obviously I'm not the only one who thinks that Sony really messed up this gen, as they are still in dead last place. That's pretty bad for a company that dominated everyone last gen.

That's it, sorry for ranting, but as long as we're getting everything out on the table there is my opinionated point of view.

I don't think Sony is the "loser" as it is the one who always needs to play catch up. I think with the PS2 Sony was sitting high & mighty as king of console gaming. Even when the Xbox cam out, they didn't even get phased, they were still number 1. So I think they got cocky & didn't expect the 360 to do as well as it did. Ever since launch, that's all Sony has done, catch up to what the 360 has done. Trophies, PSN store quality, exclusives & more were absent at launch. & even now, Sony realizes the importance of revenue from the consumer to pay for online & now has Playstation plus. Don't get me wrong PS3 is great. But anyone who doesn't think that year after year Sony has to catch up with 360 in one way or another, is in denial.

@Liquidfingers it's not that I don't want to like it, it's that the design is ugly. Sure, the PS3 design is very simple and basic, but the dashboard design it just weird. It doesn't look sleek or anything. The Microsoft Logo that plays at the beginning of AOE3 and some other PC titles looks awesome, so why not make it look sleek like that? I dislike the shades.

Sure, the 360 was better when it first came out, no one denies that, but the PS3 is a system that has been constantly evolving. It's caught up to the 360 in practically everything, and it's ultimately cheaper, especially now that Xbox live is going up in price. The PS3 has evolved to give players options that the 360 doesn't have, and Microsoft seems to either refuse to make changes or to take such an insanely long amount of time to do something small that it's ridiculous.

As for the Blu Ray player thing...WHAT? Is that a joke? You do realize that Blu Ray players play dvds, right? It's not like Sony forces you to rebuy movies all on Blu Ray before you can watch them. It just allows you to play Blu Ray movies in addition to DvDs, and Blu Ray discs just hold more data and allow for higher quality.

Sony was disappointing at the start, but they've always been that way. Once again, their taking huge strides later in the game. Microsoft was getting content early, but now with their contracts with companies running out such as Netflix, there's really not much that Microsoft will be getting before them. Now that Sony is getting exclusive content in games, you get more for your money by buying multiplatform games on PS3. 360 may have more people online currently, but the PS3 is growing at a fast rate in the US now, where it used to be slow as crap.

Combine all this with PSN having an enormous amount of games including PS1 classics, free online (which doesn't seem to be any slower than XBL, so I'm not sure why I hear so many people say that), and extra content on games, and that can definitely fill the shoes of the ps2/psx. You don't sound like you own a PS3, or even have much experience with one. There's more differences between the systems than you'd think. The 360 has a lot of little quirks that the PS3 doesn't, and the small things really add up.

@AFATALERROR My PS3 is my favorite way of viewing my entertainment. It can play my blu rays and dvds, it has wireless so I can stream stuff, and I even have a blu ray remote which is pretty neat. As for the friend request thing, I hate that about XBL. It always gets to the good part and then *BOOP* someone I don't know logs on. When you watch movies on PS3, it automatically signs you out of PSN so you don't see friend alerts all the time (I think you can turn this off in options). The only way I see XBL being more social is that there are more people, the friends list is better organized, and you can make parties (or can you make parties on PS3? I've never even tried, but I didn't think you could. Maybe it's just no cross-game chat yet.)

This is a nitpick, and don't take this as if I'm trying to make a point, but just fyi you can turn off xbl notifications, with an option specifically to turn them off just during movies.

How is the PS3 more expensive? Aren't the prices the same? You still get more out of the box with PS3 than 360 regardless - so the same price point = better value with Sony. The only feature I'd like on PS3 that Gold offers is X-game chat... but I can live without it since the people I play with are my friends and we just talk on the phone. I am intrigued by some of the 360's exclusives, but I have to say that the PS3 lineup is better. PS3 exclusives win undisputed GOTY titles every year, starting back in 2007.

Ugh. Yeah, I think I made it pretty clear in my original post that I do not have a PS3, but I use one every time I happen to go over to a brother's house which happens to be at least once a week.

All these "huge strides" your talking about Sony making...Where are they? What are they? Exclusive content for some games? Move? What are you referring to? Stuff that Microsoft has already done or is also doing??? Yeah...

If you're going to talk about a console that constantly evolves...Well, that's the 360 right there, only thank GOD their updates are seasonal and not as often as the updates for the PS3. I see this is going nowhere...Your opinions are just that, just as mine, and I happen to like the 360 and you happen to have a long-winded explanation for everything the PS3 does correctly, Good on you, I'm not going to try to argue it anymore.
