@BlackedOut I was in the beta.It was very forgettable, but that's probably because there was never more than me and one other person. I don't think I will be buying this, but I should try it again if there is more peeps on teh betaz now.

@BlackedOut

It definitely needed more inv to be sent out. I was only able to play 2-3 games because no one was on

I'm curious as to what people are thinking of the game so far. My interest is piqued, however cautious. Hopefully the narrative is as fleshed out as they say it is.

I think I'll support any game with Alice in Chains playing during the trailers regardless, though.

I'm not sure if it's just the pictures but the game itself looks pretty... bland. Even for a Beta

I'm in the beta. I think there's two maps. Its pretty standard third person shooter fair, with your now standard level up system. The much talked about weather effects don't really change gameplay other than when a sand storm comes in you can't see ANYTHING. Its more annoying than anything. Obviously I haven't played any of the single player, so I can't comment on that.

Granted I have not downloaded the second phase of the beta, my opinions are purely based off phase 1 of the beta. I did not like it at all. It took very long to get into a match. The visuals are very bland just as the screenshots here are showing. The customization is just so-so and the gameplay is quite boring. One thing I do praise this game for is the environment. Each mulitplayer map will have some environmental change to it in some way. For example, as a screenshot is showing, a dust storm can ravage the entire screen, making sniping impossible and any sort of distance firefight difficult. Overall, it feels like this game wants to be like SOCOM and it just comes up short. Hopefully the single-player will offer a much better experience, or even the retail release at that. This game needs many more testers and it needs a miracle in my eyes for it to be worth buying on day one.

Why no EDIT button? :(
I forgot to mention. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but hit detection seems almost non-existent. I don't know if they are aiming for a realism factor or not, but it is something that I feel should be included in some form or fashion, but it isn't.

I'm in the beta and it's one of the worst shooters this generation. It looks like a 2006 game, the controls are horrid, and it's just not fun. I couldn't even get through one match without shutting off my 360. I was very much looking foward to this, and I know it's a beta, but there's pretty much no hope for this game, at least in the multiplayer department.

@Sgt Barone I know what you mean!

I deleted the beta cause it's horrible.
Personally they should completely overhaul this game for like 2 years before releasing it

I got bored with the beta, so I deleted it

Not exactly that fun.
Only thing that sets it apart from other shooters (1st or 3rd), is the way you can rappel off buildings or glide on a hook :D

I am in the beta.
I downloaded and contributed in part two also, but I deleted just after 5 or 6 matches on part 2.
- Maps are pretty, interesting, complex and well made. Played just 2 maps I think though..
- Graphics are not good. Visuals seem to be *blended* like a layered 2d motion graphics, because of their color grading and model details. Also, every model texture *appear* after you look at it, from a simple blurry texture to bump-mapped, detailed model. Like in Blacklight: Tango Down.
- Lightning is weak.
- Game is so dark, and shadows made it darker.
- Texts and all the small details are not sharp. Like using a vga cable.
- Weapons, gameplay and sounds are good but overall is weak in beta.
Must be polished.

Otherwise, I want my old Spec Ops: Rangers Lead The Way (pc)

I don't mean to hate on games just by screen shots. I can't help it though! This game looks horrible, and some games can be horrible in a way and yet still fun to play. Sadly it's not going to happen with this game. Games like this kill off gaming companies due to horrible sales and time wasted....kind of like Atari

I'm in the beta and after playing it for at least 5 matches, it's a pretty fun game. Granted it brings nothing new to the table and graphics are akin to GRAW 1 & 2, but it's still fun. It's a mix of GRAW and COD 4 and that's a good thing. But it just can't separate itself from other shooters enough to warrant a $60 purchase.

The controls are very similar to COD with Gears of War cover system. The game is faster than GRAW but slower than COD. Well designed maps and strategical gameplay.Look and feel of the game is more like GRAW with a perk system. Also during matches, there is an airdrop of ammo and better weapons (grenade launcher, rpg, sniper) that's up for grabs giving a small advantage to the team who gets there first. Overall I like the game but I don't think the community would last long even if it got good reviews or sold decently. Maybe a small hardcore following akin to Operation Flashpoint.

All I play is online shooters (nothing else) so I could be the best person to comment on this game or the worst. It's how you decide to look at it.

How does that make the screenshots look less horrible? I would assume a developer would take screenshots that make the game look better than what it really does, but there is little reason for someone else to make the screenshots look worse.

A friendly reminder to those who were in the beta this past summer, as I was, if you have already forgotten it is a violation to discuss the beta in ANY form, or provided images of the game/videos of the game play. I won't give my opinion either way, but everyone who was allowed into that very small initial beta, you should really honor what YOU agreed to before clicking "I agree" to get in on the beta. Remember developers really don't need to offer fans a beta of any game, they have internal quality control departments but many respect the fans to honestly keep their mouths shut for the most part, weather you like it, or you hate it. I have beta tested a large number of games over the years, one of the first to play the original Halo and only until after the game is released are you technically allowed to talk about it.

I don't mean to crap in your Lucky Charms people who feel the need to discuss the beta, but just calling it like it is, as you agreed to not discuss it, but you are, and that right there should prevent you from participating in another beta again. I realize though it won't stop, people will beta test, and talk about it, etc, so really what I have to say falls on deaf ears for the most part, but remember a beta is a rough form, in some cases in really rough form. Regardless if you thinks it awful or a lot of fun, remember it is an early build of the game.

@Lerkero: You sir are the type of person that should not be allowed to beta because you can't keep your mouth shut. Probably the type that also doesn't believe in stopping at Stop signs if no one is around. Always some excuse to justify your actions I can imagine too.

Dude, relax. I'm sure you posted that with the vest intentions in mind but you're coming off like that kid in high school who took his job as a hall monitor a little too seriously. Youve been a beta tester since 2001. We get it, youre obviously dedicated, but like the other guy said, this is the Internet, people are going to talk about stuff they probably shouldn't. But it is what it is.

This game is horrible. Its so bad that its almost impossible to find a game with enough people to start a match. Im surprised this game got approval. The graphics are so plain and devoid of detail it looks like a PS2 game. PS2 Socom games look and play better than this.

i totally gree with Kinsella5, don't bitch about the game on here bitch about it on the Spec Ops beta forums, the whole point of a beta is to make the game better before release, so help 2k out guys.

You two have a very valid point. However, there are two thoughts to that. 1) Like most agreements, companies have to create them for formalities and legal purposes (like when they ask you to sign something they really don't want you to take the time to read because they want to sell/give you a this particular product)
2) With such a limited number of codes given, what if they really wanted us to talk about it to generate hype? See how the community reacts when told about it, like free advertisement campaigning.
None of these maybe true, but it's just a thought.

i'm still interested in the game, though only for the single player. the launch trailer impressed me........the combination of the empty towers, endless desert, and bjork song gave me the feeling that it was a shooter with a darker side, which is right up my alley.

so honestly, as a person who didn't give a crap about the multiplayer for this to begin with, i'm still interested. here's hoping the single players manages to differentiate itself.
