Konami confirms 3DS lineup for Europe

Konami has announced four titles for the 3DS in Europe, including Pro Evolution Soccer, Frogger, Contra, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Of those, we've seen screens or video of precisely one, Snake Eater, with the others first revealed as in development during E3.

The non-Metal Gear games haven't been shown, although it's worthwhile to know that a) they're still in development, and b) Konami already plans to release them in Europe. Plus, it doesn't take a huge leap of intuition to figure out what kind of games Contra, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Frogger will be.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced details of its first titles for the new Nintendo 3DSTM handheld system for release across Europe.

The publisher has confirmed its support for the new hardware with four new titles, including the Hideo Kojima-developed Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater; a new Pro Evolution Soccer title; classic run'n'gun shooter, Contra and perennial favourite, Frogger.

Interest in all four titles is already soaring following their overseas announcement, and KONAMI will be releasing further information on the four titles in the coming months. "We are delighted to confirm that KONAMI has four major titles in development for Nintendo's 3DS system," offered Kunio Neo, President for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "The chance to explore popular franchises such as Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer, Contra and Frogger within a 3D realm is an exciting opportunity, and we cannot wait to share more news in the coming months."

Now, we need to clarify things here. Is it really Peace Walker or Snake Eater. Last time I check, it was definitely Snake Eater. Hopefully, this will be clarified soon.

Really, Kojima! You couldn't even come up with an original title? You had to name it after your OTHER handheld game? You've never had problem with coming up with cryptic names before!

I'm still waiting to hear about some FPS games on the 3DS. Not a huuuuge fan of the genre, but it seems the 3DS would be perfect for that kind of thing.
Serious Sam HD3D? DOOM 2 3D? Half-Life 3D? L4D23D?

Or just make my game! It's called Shoot Gun Bang Bang and it's an FPS where you play as Shoot McGunson, the last living soldier in a post-apocalyptic battle against the Cyborg-Zombie-Nazis.

FPS games don't really work with one analogue stick, not in the capacity gamers demand these days. It's why the PSP had very few FPS/TPS games (and the ones it did have weren't that great), it's why the DS had so few... The 3DS' thumb stick wont be enough either.

Unless we revive the Goldeneye/Perfect Dark control scheme... I don't really feel like putting two 3DSes together to get dual analogues though...

1) The touch screen now recognizes whether you're using the stylus or your thumb and can be used as a second analog stick.
2) The DS way of controlling FPS games (dpad + stylus) is still superior. Seriously, it's incredibly precise.

Likely as not that Peace Walker could be ported, so he's probably half right :P

Though i thought Naked Sample was going to get further away from MGS3. MGS3 was just to demo the technology

I can't wait for 3DS to be released a year later in Europe, with a 50% higher price. I just love the way Nintendo, and a whole lot other publishers, price things here in Europe. 250 USD? Yep, that's 250 Euro. And then add tax ONTO that.

And if it's really true that 3DS will be region locked, someone needs to be murdered. I seriously might just wait with buying one until it's been cracked and actually works like the effing things are supposed to. Sort of like how I can now play games from any region on my Wii. Games I've actually bought. And all you needed to be able to do this was to remove some sort of lock some disgusting jerk put there for absolutely no reason. And now 3DS, a handheld, is supposedly region locked.

There's a very simple way to improve the world: Anyone working for a company that releases a region locked product gets killed. Bam. Overpopulation problem gets one step close to being solved, and we get rid of the sort of stupid asshats who think region locking is justifiable in any possible way.
