Okay, after watching this eight-minute Yakuza: Of the End gameplay trailer, we can now think of the game in a different way. Our bemusement is reduced and our interest increased. Instead of a really strange Yakuza game, we now look at it as a cheesy zombie game with great production values -- like Onechanbara, but less embarrassing and with a better budget. Kamurocho is still a great setting for games, and now it's a setting for a zombie game!
Well, maybe it's just marginally less embarrassing. For some reason, the dating, hostess club, table tennis, and mahjong minigames are still present -- and for some reason, Goro Majima finds an opportunity to sing. With backup dancers.
@Faceless Troll Yeah, but I bought it for $20 new so not really complaining. It could've been a much better game had it taught you how to clean your sword off in stage one, better camera control, and use of Classic or GCN controller. Even with Wiimote only it was still good.
Loved Yakuza 3, eagerly awaiting 4. This one looks like a refreshing change of pace, since all the games have similar gameplay. Zombies blend surprisingly well with Karumocho. I'm glad minigames are still in there, they were surprisingly deep in 3. I spent maybe 15 hours completing them all, that's double the time it takes to complete a modern FPS game, craziness.
This looks like it might be even more over-the-top and fun than Dead Rising by a mile. And it's a neat concept, taking awesome characters and putting them in a game based on, but not part of, the main series. Yakuza is pretty much the only Sega franchise I still love, so this is a day 1 purchase for me if it gets released.
