Professor Layton VS Gyakuten saiban -- the Japanese name for a new crossover 3DS game that features both Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton -- was revealed last night by Level-5 during a press conference in Tokyo. The game is being developed in collaboration with Capcom, though Ace Attorney creator Shu Takumi will be heading up writing. It appears that this marks the beginning of Level-5 and Capcom's much teased collaboration, and one of the four surprise titles Level-5 said it would reveal during its Vision 2010 event currently taking place in Japan.
1UP's liveblog details the gameplay of Professor Layton VS Gyakuten saiban as a "combination of puzzles and crime mystery," while Level-5 president Akihiro Hino characterizes the collaboration by comparing it to "two TV shows getting together and making a movie." @FernandoRocker By forever you mean 5-6 years right? Because many mobile devices can produce graphics on almost par with that now, it wouldn't be long before another PSP (LOLLOLOLOL) or pimped out Android or Apple device can look like that, not even a year after the 3DS.
So yeah, I agree it looks great, but no it won't last forever. Not even close.
The difference is that the 3DS, besides the pretty graphics, it also has 3D without glasses, the game cards can hold 2GB games (at launch; bigger later) and, you know... physical buttons.
Games, my ugly friend. It's all about the games. I don't know anyone that can look at all of the announced titles coming to the 3DS and not get excited.
@hami83 You act like the 3DS graphics aren't very good. They are what they need to be. And I'm totally geeking out over here thinking about the awesomeness of Professor Latyon vs. Ace Attorney.
Upon learning of this game a few minutes, my room was immediately covered in bits of asploded head, and some other things I won't mention in good company.
Isn't Phoenix Wright kind of bumbling where as Layton is a genius? I mean, it's like Conan vs Lupin, except Lupin is extremely devious to Conan's investigative nature, they balanced out. I don't think Luke would even get a challenge from Phoenix Wright.
