Wow, that was supposed to say I "heart" bees, but the commenting system didn't like my "sideways carrot + 3", and I'm afraid to try it again.

Anyways, not that internet is so jaded about most viral ARGs that it wouldn't have worked, but it was awesome in its time.

I Love Bees was pretty revolutionary at the time. Now ARGs have sort-of stagnated. There's still some good ones that pop up sometimes, Marble Hornets was really great (and creepy), not sure if you saw that story about the Haunted Majora's Mask game, that turned into an ARG (but is on hiatus at the moment). You can read up on both here: http://jadusable.wikia.com/wiki/Jadusable_Wiki and here: http://marblehornets.wikidot.com/

Also, just a quick test, not sure if it'll work but perhaps the special HTML character code will work < (but with a ; at the end) should give you: <

I can see that being Reach DLC or something. Otherwise, a March 2011 release wouldn't make any sense. Can they do campaign DLC?

Well, that was a rumor based on a Google translation of an Italian site that was reporting on a rumor. :P

That said, 343 Industries would be outsourcing any such project to someone else. So while Bungie was making Reach, some other dev could have spent the last year or so doing an HD remake of CE. Plenty of time for both projects when two different devs are doing them.

@Hayatoblaze91x - With that said, I'm sure you're aware of the theories that Halo and Marathon are within the same universe - hundreds of years apart - and Mr. Security Officer is actually Master Chief.

It's worth a read, and it has turned me into a strong believer in the Halo/Marathon crossover, even though I already believe it existed.

@Nintendo Tim I hadn't seen that info, and I must say that would be pretty kick ass. Again my only hope is that what ever they do with Marathon, it will be dark, gritty, and mature as opposed to the colorful Halo universe.
Marathon on all systems would sell like hotcakes and secure Bungie's status as a top tier developer.

If I have to choose between 'gritty and dark' or 'colourful,' I'll choose the latter every time.

BUT ... I do see what you're getting at. I'd personally love something along the lines of Killzone 2's exceedingly black / dark-grey pallet mixed with a lot of vivid and bright colours. Something like Unreal Tournament III, minus the god awful art style, but with ten times the eye-popping, highly contrasting colours.

Definitely not looking forward to having Karen Traviss writing the sequel to Ghosts of Onyx. Why can't Eric Nylund do it? I'm sure there are schedule conflicts and stuff but im pretty sure it's worth waiting.

Traviss' work with Star Wars, particularly the Mandalorians is one of those really dangerous situations where the writer can completely ostracize fans with no information and ideas that don't fit previous interpretations. I'm worried she'll do the same thing to Spartans she did to Mandalorians, like adding a bunch of useless and cliched cultural rules, or tossing in gay characters just to have characters who are gay. Oh well, guess we'll wait and see

@kives343 - I used to read IGN religiously when I was in high school - I wasn't aware of the blogging scene (or it hadn't cropped up yet) and I thought IGN was the only place to go for E3 coverage, then G4 debuted in my area - and when Casamassina left, that was the final nail in the coffin.

First of all let me say, I really want to smack you right now...

Now that that is out of the way Obviously 343 Hired the TALENTED Fans. As well as the Fans that Know Alot about the Series and are great story writers.

You might not realise this, but Mega Fans of any given thing are Really good at coming up with stories for said items. Believe it or not, but its the truth. Its that random that keeps people interested, These type of people care about their career (unlike most game devs) and are more passionate about it aswell.

Follow the Story, and you appease the Current Fans.
Follow the Story, and you unlock new things that Attract new fans.
Follow the Story, and you unlock cool Gameplay Mechanics that you new existed.

Secondly Some of these Fans are Programmers, Some are Story Writers, Some have done Awesome Art, Search it up sometime. Just because they are a Fan of something doesn't mean you need to stereotype them into the Nobody category, For example I'm a fan of the series.. .and I'm a (tobe) Programmer with tons of Ideas for stuff, and tons of Ideas of how to get there.

Now to address your second thing, No I am not from Bungie.net, Anyways Whats wrong with Bungie.net, I frequent there every now and then, and its a great place with a passionate community. You just need to know where to go, The Flood, and The 7 Septagon are the best places. Groups are amazing also. I also use the site for getting pictures, and videos when I don't want to be bothered using my Capture Card.

Hmm, there's actually a lot of mixed and contradicting messages in that article from Bungie.

On one hand, there's a constant insistence that the reason the franchise is so great is because of the unified vision and creative control of Bungie, keeping everything coherent.

But, they also admit that they had little real contributions to many of the side projects, like the first novel, the graphic novel, Iheartbees. They admit that they simply didn't have the time to contribute to all the other stuff. That just doesn't seem to match the assertion that their control and guidance is what has made everything work so well.

Also, not a single mention of Halo Wars. Anywhere. It's like it doesn't exist as far as the Halo universe is concerned. I think every other project of significance was discussed.

(Author: DJMcG9)
The Halo trilogy has an amazing story about war, friendship, heroism, the goods and evils of religion, and the fight for truth. There are so

many parallels I have been able to draw.

One parallel I see is between the Covenant's genocide on the Humans and the Christians (Roman Catholic Church's) war on the Muslims

(aka. the Crusades). The Covenant are very similar to the Christians. The Covenant wanted to 'reclaim" the Forerunner technology (the

Halos and Earth) that the Humans possessed. Why? Because their leaders knew that the humans were the true "reclaimers" and wanted the

power of the Forerunners for themselves (no, I'm not ignoring their belief in the "Great Journey"). This is similar, but not exactly like, the way

the Christians wanted to retake Jerusalem because of its connection to heaven. The Covenant are ruled by corrupt leaders; much the same

way that the popes were corrupt in the Crusades during the Middle Ages. The Covenant send out their followers into a war that they do not

understand; just like the way the Christians sent out their followers into the Crusades. Their followers who had no education and had always

been told what to think by the Church. The Covenant have no religious tolerance, they force groups to join their group and make them

believe what they believe; the exact same thing that the Roman Catholic Church did. The similarities go on.

The Arbiter then turns on all of his religious beliefs because he is finally given the knowledge, the knowledge of what the Halos are, by the

Forerunner, who equate to the Bible and the Bible's origins, to make his own decision and follow his own beliefs. This is very similar to the

way that the peasants of the Middle Age were unable to read the Bible themselves and finally could once they could read, which was done by

getting away from the Church because the Church wanted to hold on to its power which relied heavily on an uneducated populous.

The Arbiters story teaches us that we must make our own decisions on faith and that blind faith is evil. We learn that to make the right

decisions we must have knowledge and not faith alone because if faith is all you have then how do you know you are making the right

choices. (Halo 2's story is deeper than just the Arbiter. I just don't feel like writing more than I need to get my point across.)

Halo has that and much more that I could go into, but I feel that Halo 2 did the best job with its story for achieving such a great depth. Halo CE

and Halo 3 had exceptional stories as well, but I feel that their stories were not as elaborated on as Halo 2's, and therefore, were not quite as

able to be so compellingly deep. Halo 3, especially, seems somewhat unwilling to go too deeply into its plot. I guess Bungie decided to focus

more on the game aspect of Halo 3 (I find Halo 3's gameplay to be very solid and enjoy its multiplayer more than any other game [for the most

part].)

Note
DO NOT misinterpret any of this. I am not anti-Christian. I realize that it may seem that way, with me pointing the darker side of their past, but I

actually find much about Christians very noble, such as their wish to save others from hell and most of their morals. I also believe Halo

speaks more for religion than is does against (with so many Bible references). I just feel that part of Halo is saying that blind faith has the

potential to become evil.
________________________________________________________
I just wanted to commend DJMcG9 for a very "sharp eyed" observation about the whole point of the stories told by Bungie. I strongly believe

that all Bungie is trying to do is help us "remember" the VALUES that drive this story and it's characters. But they do it in a awsomely fun and

cleVer way. I beleive that they are trying to "re awaken" that child like sense of wonder that we once had when we were children playing

outside and making all kinds of new discoveries. (I'm 29 by the way) We all have the natural gift of discernment but we lack knowledge when it

comes to understanding differnt points of view. Halo games have a lot of words that do have legit dictionary meanings if we go back and

actually look up the meanings of these words you will SEE the connections. I'll give you an example... The word ZEALOT has a meaning in the

dictionary...go look it up and you will see what I mean. If you don't know what a word means....LOOK IT UP MAN!! IT'S FUN!!
Anyways DJMcG9.. DUDE I felt you hit the nail right on the head!! And to others that disagree thats just our observations.

Most inportant factors of life to me..... LIVE, LEARN, LOVE, LAUGH AND PLAY!!! And to BUNGIE YOU GUYS ARE AWSOME STORYTELLERS!!!

YOU ROCK!!!

LIFE is a MYSTERY.....Explore it!!
