Does the very thought of standing up, walking to your PlayStation 3 and inserting a Blu-ray disc incite utter, uncontrollable rage? In an effort to counter vengeful rampages against Sony's higher management, the publisher has announced a downloadable version of God of War Collection.
Set to arrive on Tuesday, November 2, alongside God of War: Ghost of Sparta, the PlayStation Network compilation will feature the remastered God of War and God of War 2 -- both running in 720p native resolution at 60 frames per second -- but will not include any of the bonus content from the Blu-ray release.
According to the European PlayStation Blog, the greek growl-a-thons will be sold separately for €18/£14 each, or as a bundle for €30/£24. That's quite a bit higher than the cost of the Blu-ray collection, and we hope the observation won't apply to the US price when it's announced. You have enough reasons to be angry as it is -- just look at how far away the remote control is today.

You've used up 300gbs? How did you manage that? I just reached the half full mark on my 120gb

You've only used 60 GB? My 80 GB is filled to the brim. I'm going o have to start deleting all of my demos and it's only a matter of time before I'm going to have to start uninstalling my games. I think I have 20 retail games, 12 Demos, and 3 PSN games. If you have around that amount you should be around the 80 Gb maark too.The PS3 can also be used to store muisc and Blu-Ray so 300 Gb is completely doable.

I have 25 PSN games. But I don't keep demos, right after I'm done with them I delete them.

You're 100% right that this is where we're going with this. I'd say in a year we will be seeing many PS2 games, unaltered and uploaded to PSN "for our convenience, and for a nominal fee."
Keep in mind that Sony initially said they cut BC from the next models of PS3 to be able to drop the price of the system, so it makes perfect sense to then be able to turn around and double compound the price of the content we could no longer play because we wanted to save money (not to mention use up a TON of valuable HD space on stuff we already own on disc (my PS2 games are literally 1 foot away from my PS3)).
I love the hoops we get to jump through and just how little sense anything makes anymore.

@Lucky48
always worth upgrading your ps3 to a 500gig drive. it's easy, it's cheap, and it's relatively fast (the only 'slow' part can be backing up your current drive and restoring it, but that depends on how much data you have to begin with).
once you have a 500g drive in your ps3 you'll never understand why you didn't upgrade before.

I hope they also put the Ico/SOTC games up on PSN. Along with the disc release, of course.

I'm sure I'm one of the few, but I haven't completed these games yet. So a warning to those who are in the same boat and plan to finish these and will read the newest Game Informer - be warned. There are some spoilers in the "Scaredcow Barbecue" article. I know it's not a big deal to some but I don't like to know something before I experience it.

Give me my full PS2 emulation already. Yes I know you want to sell me the same game again. Nintendo has been doing it for years.
In other news, I'm still waiting for a Chrono Cross, Xenogears and Vagrant Story PS1 PSN releases Square... + Suikoden 2 from konami

I hate when they price it like that. I'd easily buy it if it was cheaper than its physical counterpart

720p? Is this a typo? The bluray version runs at 1080p.

It's 720p native, I believe, but it might upscale to 1080p depending on your PS3 output settings.

Interesting. I was under the impression it was 1080p native. I know that the game outputs in 1080p automatically on my TV and I have all of the resolution boxes checked. Usually most of the games that support 1080p like AC2 or Dead Space will only do 1080p if you force it to (only check 1080p). I figured since you didn't have to force it to do 1080p that meant 1080p was its native resolution. I guess I was wrong?

I wish they would do this with more games. A GTA collection would be nice.

More expensive than the Blu-Ray even though it doesn't have the bonus features and costs a lot less for Sony because there is no packing, shipping and middle-man?
Screw that.

That's still cheaper than the disc version here in Sweden, and with the ease of running it from the drive I'll probably pick it up from the store

I still prefer a disc in cases like this. I actually watched every bonus video on the GOW Collection disc - would be disappointed if I didn't get those on the download-only versions. Personally, it simply doesn't make sense to buy something through PSN that costs more than the Blu-ray version, with less content.

I agree. They need to rethink their value proposition for these disc-based titles on the PSN.
