Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light owners will finally discover online co-op on Xbox when the long-awaited patch is implemented October 27. Crystal Dynamics just announced the news and noted that the update for PS3 and PC is "coming later, stay tuned."
The company also reiterated that the first DLC pack would be free "to say thanks for your patience." Guardian of Light was one of the standout downloadable titles of the summer, despite missing a key feature at launch. It was originally intended to be patched in during September, but Lady Croft slept in and missed the date.

Sorry. Fable 3 will be out by then.
How about completing the game, then selling it to people?

And how do you propose I sell an XBLA game exactly?
Good news for those waiting for it. I already played the game to death, and it's terrific as a single-player experience. I'll be happy to give the online co-op a try next week. I haven't been able to do local co-op at all.

@Demaar Dude, I don't care when they release it. So long as it is done.
what these guys have done is taken the promotion of the Microsoft Summer of Arcade and a timed exclusivity deal to release a co-op game without the on-line co-op part.
Then they're patching it in later with a timed exclusive patch?
This is backwards no matter what you say.
And just to note: I have no qualms with the game itself - it looks pretty good and I might pick it up when it makes logical sense to.

Then don't buy it, no one's forcing you to.

When does that free DLC come out? That was also supposed to be released in Sept.

Man, they really borked the release of this game.
It's almost embarrassing.

Except a lot of people didn't buy it because it was missing the online co-op. Not to mention all the bad press this has caused despite the game being very good. They could have easily just waited until it was finished and then picked a date away from a big release like Fable III.

FINALLY! My brother and I both downloaded this with the intention to co-op it. We've both finished it by ourselves and now we get to go back in together and try it out again in a completely new way. I probably wouldn't have ended up playing it by myself if the co-op was available when it released so I'm actually getting more out of this game now. Soooo... thanks for screwing up, I guess?

Looking forward to this; a friend just picked up GoL this week so we can give co-op a shot online.

I plan to still buy this for the single player and local co-op, but they should really make sure they don't do something like that again. Online co-op is a sensitive issue these days

too little, too late I'm afraid. What is this, like 2 months+ post launch? Sad thing to happen, but it is what it is.

I think it's okay that they released it early without the online co-op. For those of us that just want local play ~I consider it as getting to play it early. And to top it off we get some free DLC. Just trying to look on the bright side of things..

Eh, I'll believe the free DLC thing when I see it. I'm still not entirely convinced the patch will arrive for the PS3 anytime soon either. Until then, I ain't buying this.

Too bad it wasn't available for my Extra-Life 24 hour gaming marathon. It would have been great to re-play this game then.

I played the demo and had a blast playing local co-op with a friend. I would have bought it right then and there, if it was a completed product.
Nice to see that they finished the game though. I might check it out at some point down the road.

I'm a big online proponent, but the lack of it in this game got me to get the wife to jump in and try it out with me. She ended up really liking it. This seems like a great game to get the gf/wife involved in, give it a shot.

What about DLC for the PS3? We've been waiting for online co-op too!

Hi - I'm the Group Community Manager at Square Enix Europe. I don't have a date just yet, but the 360 release brings us a step closer to the PS3 update. As soon as I have the date I'll be posting it left, right and centre. We're sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience.
