It's sad to realize that Ace Attorney series didn't do too well.

MAYBE THIS'LL HELP! AND MAYBE THEY'LL RERELEASE THE FIRST 3 ACE ATTORNEY GAMES AS ONE PACKAGED AND UPDATED ON 3DS. HELL YEAH!

To be fair, Layton has had a marketing blitz for at least the last two games. Can't remember if the first was advertised at all. I sure has hell never saw a big cardboard display for an Ace Attorney game at Best Buy week of launch. In fact, they haven't stocked the last three games at all. I had to go buy them at a... ughh... Gamestop.

The broader appeal of Layton in the West is what will help see this localized. Hopefully Nintendo will pitch in to help out again, especially given that Level 5 is publishing this in Japan

It IS pretty sad to realize how Ace Attorney didn't sell as well. It's a series deserving of a lot more revenue than it gained. The stories are interesting, the characters range from sympathetic to hilarious and some can even strike both cords, and let's not forget that the translation for English has always been a delight to read. It's definitely my favorite series on handheld.

That said, if there's any way to bring the Ace Attorney franchise to more people, it'd be a combination of these two franchises. And I really hope they succeed. It's already got me interested in Professor Layton.

My only hope is that there's a glimpse of Edgeworth. Even a mention. "That man in red" would work just fine!

Professor Layton got major air time so it makes sense people buy that. I'm sure if Nintendo advertised Phoenix Wright better it would probably sell well too. Americans like their crime shows, after all.

The problem with Ace Attorney is that I can't find them anywhere (for the DS). So I can't quite help the sales if I can't buy the product, right?

Only a paltry 3.9m? That's a shame but hopefully this move helps PW sales. I didn't really like the first Layton game much so I'm a bit lukewarm on that franchise, but I'm a total PW fanboy.

I'm just surprised that they still have puzzles left for Layton after 3 games crammed chock full of them.

And look at Maya crouching behind that crate, isn't she just adorable?

Having played the first two Ace Attorney games and the first Layton game, these figures are not surprising. Ace Attorney is a great example of a story driven adventure game with some good (but sometimes frustrating) courtroom puzzles.

Layton on the other hand is much easier to pick up and play for a few minutes at a time. Have 10 minutes before class? Solve a puzzle or two. It takes a bit more time to get invested in the AA games. Not to mention that the art style of Layton tends to be more universally appealing compared to the manga heavy art style of the AA games.

Super excited for this. I picked up the first Professor Layton a couple days ago and I'm a big fan.
