There's a lot to love about Arkedo's Our Manic Game. While it largely looks and plays like many other shmups, most notably the recent Space Invaders reboots, OMG features an interesting risk/reward mechanism that makes it a worthwhile, fresh shooter.
Your ship will constantly fire in front of it, making it rather easy to aim and move your ship on the touch screen. The other touch screen "gimmick" unique to OMG is the ability to touch enemies. When you touch an enemy, it enters Manic mode, not only changing color but changing its attack pattern. An enemy that shoots a single shot may fire a barrage of bullets, or an enemy that shot small bullets may launch large blasts of flames. But, why would you want to make the game more difficult for yourself? Points, of course!
Every enemy, object and boss can be touched, meaning you can transform the game to be as easy or as difficult as you'd like it to be. If you've mastered other bullet hell games, you'll love what Manic bosses in this game will have to offer.
While these types of games are meant to be played over and over again, it's a bit disappointing to see that there are only two modes offered: an "Infinite" mode, which lets you play for as long as you can hold on to five lives. The other is "Five Minute" mode, which is exactly as it sounds. Ultimately, Achievement hunters and Leaderboard chasers will get the most value out of OMG -- but it's easy to recommend to anyone that's looking for a good-looking, fun arcade game.
