We're still left wondering about its "winter 2010" release date, but Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam has now been priced at $15 (€12.99, £9.99, 1200 MSP). The DLC expansion will add four new maps, 15 new weapons and six vehicles to fit in with its setting. Era-specific items include the M79 grenade launcher, Navy SEAL XM22 machine gun, Huey helicopter and the ability to "RUN, FORREST! RUN!" from all the bullets and explosions.
The DLC also features a '60s soundtrack comprising 49 tracks across eight in-game radio channels. So, just recline on the battlefield and listen to "Ride of the Valkyries" as the destruction occurs all around.
And now we just keep on waiting for that date to show up -- like we did on prom night.
"$5 will make or break you? Times must be tight. "
Yeah, times are tight. It's the middle of a global economic recession. You act like it's one $5 but the price on everything is going up these days and for some people that makes a difference. Entertainment cuts are the first to go.
@superklye Considering that Onslaught was released along side a fairly large update that you had to download as well, did you ever consider that maybe the data for the game mode was in that update file instead of the unlock file you had to purchase?
There have been a few games that have taken that route for DLC, most notably Burnout: Paradise. All of their DLC was added to a large patch that need to be downloaded (it got up to something like 1.3GB by the time they stopped adding to the game) and you purchased unlock files to unlock that DLC.
@superklye I was just taking exception to the notion that the file size should have anything to do with the pricing. I haven't personally purchased Onslaught mode since I didn't know anybody else that was getting it so I cannot comment on the actual quality or worth of the mode itself (though I might pick it up this week since it's on sale on XBL).
I'd get it if it was a separate download from the disc like Rockstar's Undead Nightmare, but I sold the game 4 mos. after release and don't plan on re-buying.
@SisypheanLife That's what i was thinking. And it's depressing. Maybe they are hoping the add on will cause a purchasing run on the game just about christmas time.
Battle field Vietnam was awesome back in the day...I fully expect equal awesomeness with this game. I mean, who doesn't want to be flying into battle with some credence playing?
£9.99 for a proper legitimate expansion pack is a hell of a lot easier than the £10.99 price point of the MW2 map packs, which I refused to buy despite being one of the few who seemed to find the base game enjoyable.
@Pigeonreaper Let's not forget that two of the four maps in the first two map packs were MW1 maps.
This is 4 completely new maps, with I'm presuming support for each mode of gameplay (with 4 unique map layouts). So that alone is more generous at $15 than the MW2 DLC. Add-in new weapons, vehicles, character models, voice-over, and even a soundtrack?
I'm amazed that people think this is a unfair price for that much content.
$15 or less is what I was hoping for. Looks like I'll be picking this up day one. Love me some BFBC2, only stopped playing it because Halo: Reach came out.
"Winter" sounds like they're shooting for December/January, but I waaaant it nowwwwwww. :-(
So this is just a "Multiplayer Expansion"? There's no single player campaign or anything single player?
As for some of the talk way above, times are definitely rough right now especially if you don't have a job or can't find one for that matter and just living off unemployment right now like myself and my 3 children! Of course games, and pretty much anything entertainment stuff wise is on the very bottom of the list to buy and bills, food, gas, etc.. comes first, but I am still able to get a new game or something every now and then.
Actually, now that I think of it, sometimes getting "entertainment" stuff is cheaper than going out for a night whether it's taking me and the kids to the movies (that alone cost's me usually $50 + and that's not including the popcorn//snacks and or drinks unless I go to the cheap dollar theaters) or bowling, or whatever it may be for a few hours of being out than buying something $50 + and being able to use/watch it over and over at home.
But back to my original question, so this is just exclusively for multiplayer and nothing single player wise, not even down the road? I'm just not that big into multiplayer these days and if I do there's so many other games I'd rather playing online. Hmmm, I actually haven't even tried BF:BC 2 online yet lol
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam will add four new multiplayer maps, as well as 15 new weapons and six vehicles, all congruous with the new 1960s locale and Bad Company 2's universal experience point system. Among other era-specific items, you'll gain access to the M79 grenade launcher, the Navy SEAL XM22 machine gun, the American Huey helicopter and the Russian T54 tank.
The DLC, which requires the Bad Company 2 game disc, will retain the game's universal experience points and add ten new Achievements and Trophies.
