They need to make a collapsable controller that fits around the phone like a sleeve. Should hook into the jack in the bottom and give buttons and a control stick/pad...it'll never happen because the apps wouldn't have native support for it..

@DvoManG Wait for Apple to release one, then it'll probably be a necessity for action games, because touch buttons and touch dpad or analog really obstructs the screen at times.

Of course games like Fruit Ninja will not use this.

I'd rather have them turn them into something like a usb device. That I would be willing to shell out money for.

Lame.

I hate people who destroy stuff like this for crap like iPods and iPhones. Products that won't ever be considered retro only antiquated hardware.

Unless they're using third party controllers/replicas or broken controllers. These are finite resources.

@Mmmmz

Agreed. Current iPhones will be replaced soon by newer models. Apple will eventually change the docking interface rendering this useless. People will still be playing NES in 20 years.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when every last preowned classic gaming controller is converted to some other use. Guess we better start stocking up on old gear before it truly does become extinct ;)

Are you guys even reading the article at all? It's not used as a controller at all... It's just a dock. It has no real functionality as far as the controller goes.

Nice but why ruin a perfectly good NES controller for an iDevice
