@ouenwoof I saw some of that on youtube, and it looked like just as awful of an attempt to spoof manga as Rockstar's anime commercial in GTAIV.
Why do people think emphasizing stereotypes = funny? It's not. To be funny you have to actually try, which I've yet to see a company do when spoofing anything from Japan.
And it also irks me when closed-minded people see these crappy jokes and get the wrong idea about anime/manga... But I'll stop there. Don't wanna go on too bad of a rant here, lol.

I dunno, I thought the manga segment in Comic Jumper was pretty hilarious. I don't consider myself to be very bias or anything, I mean I enjoy the occasional anime myself, but everything that Captain Smiley and Star said about manga was just so true...

Like what exactly? I don't know what lines you're talking about since I didn't see all of it, but there are very few things you can say are "true" for all manga/anime.
Manga and Anime have just as much variety as Movies, Music or TV Series. It encompasses a wide variety of genres, age demographics and styles.
I mean, saying all Manga is like the level from Comic Jumper is like saying all Movies are like Rambo, or that all Cartoons are like Dexter's Lab. :/

Problem: there's almost zero awareness of GoW in Japan, partially because the whole aesthetic doesn't really gel with their culture.
Solution: Make something that does gel with their culture, to help bridge that gap.
