With his rotund shape and waddling gait, we would never consider Kirby to be a particularly hasty creature -- still, we never would have expected his latest adventure, Kirby's Epic Yarn, to take months to reach European and Australian territories. Nintendo Australia recently confirmed that the title, released earlier this month in the U.S. and Japan, would see 2011 launch in PAL regions. (Online retailer Play suggests that it'll only arrive in March.)
In the months between, a dedicated European fan could probably recreate the game using actual yarn. Hey, why hasn't anyone done that yet? Get crafty, you guys.

What a bummer. It's like Nintendo collected pure joy and pressed it in disc form.

It's things like this that make me wonder, WHY? There's little to change in the game's code, there's no translation (aside from color/colour type variations), and I can't imagine there being much legal issues.
Did they just not print enough discs or something? Maybe someone here knows something I don't...

@SpongeFreak52 Are you aware of the fact that Europe doesn't only consist of the UK? PAL region games usually include many language settings, mostly English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and French. I'm pretty sure they are going to dub the narrator in all these languages, else little children won't be able to understand him.

@IrateGamer That's true, although the NTSC release also contains multiple languages in the disc. I'm not sure if it's Multi3 or Multi5 at this point though, but I know that I've seen Spanish footage from the NTSC.

It sucks for them because the game is awesome. I a Sony fanboy turned the Wii on for the 1st time in a year and really really enjoy this game.

Aww, that's really too bad. I feel bad for you guys, as it's a FANTASTIC game.
And for interested parties, someone HAS made the game out of yarn and fabric already. Observe!

It has a functioning zipper and everything!

Sorry to post jack, but DAMN Joystiq, you need to fix the issue where there's nothing shown below an embedded Joystiq Viddler video.
It's been an issue in FF4Beta for a while with Joystiq articles with those videos, but now it doesn't even show anything below the video in the latest stable build of Chrome! (E.g. The recent B:BC2 Vietnam article and the Rock Band 3 Pro guitar video)

Nintendo has been stringing PAL regions along, this can knot be tolerated

It makes sense. After all, there's a whole lot to localize in the game. Compared to many games like Mass Effect 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4, which were released at very close dates in the USA, Europe and other areas, Kirby is a nightmare to localize.
No, wait, it's actually just Nintendo being complete assholes. They need to get with the damn times.

@Mehbah Let me refer you to my comment above:
"PAL region games usually include many language settings, mostly English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and French. I'm pretty sure they are going to dub the narrator in all these languages, else little children won't be able to understand him. "
Metal Gear Solid 4 only had subtitles. About Mass Effect 2, I know they had own voice acting in the German version so I'll assume they also had for the other languages but it probably also had a way bigger budget than Kirby's Epic Yarn.

It's not like Nintendo doesn't have a track record of pulling this type of shit with PAL regions. Oh well, at least we got Day of Crisis.

(Not saying it's cool, but I can understand, the same thing happened with many Wii titles... smash bros, I'm looking at you)

This reminds me of the time Pokemon Battle Revolution came out. It was available in June in America, but only came out in New Zealand in November. A similar thing happened with Diamond and Pearl. Now it's happening to one DS game that I was looking forward to buying, even if it's literally child's play.
