They patched the PC version first, so they may have.

they didn't. this helps, but doesn't fix the NPC fps drop issue and removes some of the random crashes, mine hasn't randomly crashed since the update at least. but a quest item did fall through the map, i'm still waiting for them to fix that...

New Vegas is messy, but hopefully this solves some issues. I keep dozens of save points because I'm so neurotic about the game locking up on me in a certain spot. This happened in Fallout 3 and there was nothing that I could do about it but go back like 4 or 5 hours of playtime to a previous save and play through again... which was a major drag. Desperately hoping this doesn't happen to me with New Vegas, but so far, there have been more glitches with NV than Fallout 3 for me... so I'm not optimistic.

I've never played fallout before, so I'm not familiar with all the bugs, and I'm on an xbox 360. Wondering if I should start saving every so often

@HeriocZebra Regardless of tech issues, you should definitely save every so often in Fallout. I remember a time I had wandered the wastelands for like an hour, and had a deathclaw come out of nowhere. I ran away...right into a pack of raiders. I died, and had to retrace my steps.

I keep 5 different saves, along with the auto save file, at all times. I save in a different slot each time in case one would get glitched or corrupted, this way I have 5 saves each with about 20-40 min of playtime between them in case I would ever need to reload an earlier save

Also, is it just my screen or are the comments that have 3 stars, no longer blue? Maybe I missed something.

@Brando Calrissian I was at Best Buy earlier and noticed the blue was on the comments using their iPad. I changed my color settings but everything seems fine except I'm not seeing the blueness. I don't get it. I did a Java update and a Flash un/reinstall before, too, so who knows. Thanks for the clarification.

I love how they say we will let you know the dates when the PS3 and Xbox 360 update will be available. I keep getting a message that games will not load because DLC is not available anymore. I am on the console and I never downloaded the DLC that came with my game. Bums me out that I can not play my game.

Bye bye to 5 hours of play time. Back to saving manually every hour.

@HaloisthemostOverratedGameEver Just a future warning - games with large amounts of content like New Vegas and Civilization 5 often ship with a few kinks!

The first step is dealing with it.

Good, this game is a mess! I honestly don't understand why it's getting such high scores. With all the bugs and the feeling of "been here, done that". This game doesn't deserve any higher than a 7.5...

I also think it shouldn't cost $59.99! It's like Halo 3:ODST to me, a glorified expansion. Sigh, I know the down votes are coming, but I had to vent. I was playing for five hours then ran into a game breaking bug lol :(

@ShadowMonkey987 I'm aware of that, but this game has way too many. I think developers are starting to take patches for granted. Is it so hard to ship a game that just works like it's supposed to?

What about the people that don't have their console hooked up to the internet? There's no excuse, it's sloppy. A few glitches are expected, but this game almost feels broken at certain parts.

Yeah but we're not talking about a few little glitches here and there. We're talking game breaking stuff here. That's not excusable. I loved Fallout 3, but come on.

@DeeZeee Bah, saying it's a glorified expansion is ridiculous. It's got around a hundred hours of gameplay. New place, new questline, 30 levels.

The bugs are lame, I agree...but reviewers don't take those into account, especially knowing that a game can be patched.

But sorry that your game got messed up.

reviewers no longer use a retail version of the games they review , they use a special version that the game company has sent them. its close to the retail version but its not. this is done so the the website or magazine can be the first to have a review up. egm magazine used to not review any game till after they bought it from a store but even they had to stop that just to stay in business

You know what's awesome? The community fixed all the major system errors, they're just releasing quest and script fixes for now (since it applies to ALL versions). Makes sense I guess.

From what I hear it breaks more than it fixes on the PC. Haven't tried it yet. I hear saves are still fubar. Will try it for myself later tonight.

Like someone said, "Open Letter to Obsidian : Thank you for allowing us to be in the Fallout : New Vegas Open Beta!"

Not having to worry about being gang-raped in an early area would be nice. I got ambushed by four radscorpions last night and while I was busy running for my life four feral ghouls decided to join in the party, and I was only near Fort Mojave at Level 4. What the Christ.

I'm eagerly awaiting the console patch. No patch, no buy.

Sure most of us here know about patches, and have our consoles online, but what about the average people who don't? They get stuck with a broken game that they paid full price for?

Not good. Not good at all. There's no excuse. Oblivion is 4 years old now, and it ran smoothly without any errors. After Fallout 3 and all of the DLCs, they still can't get the engine to run properly at release time?

Fallout: New Beta!

They're both very admirable development houses, but with the, uh, "magic touch" Bethesda and Obsidian both seem to possess, who didn't expect this? These people have proven that they will never be able to publish a thoroughly polished game. Sure, it is due in large part to the scope of their games, but if only they could test more adamantly and thoroughly...

I'll still pick it up, eventually.

For some reason every time I continue my game it uses an auto-save that happened in the beginning of the game. I freak out a little and just hope that my save is still there to load. Still don't know why that particular auto save loads even though I have had countless more.

The bugs associated with this game are just ridiculous. I am deciding whether to wait for these patches before I continue playing. I really like this game, but freezing three times within 5 hours of gameplay is absolutely unacceptable, I can remember maybe once or twice when fallout 3 froze over the 100+ hours I played it. They shouldn't have released the game in the state it's in, I almost regret buying it on day one.

That's probably not a Fallout bug. Sounds more like an issue with your sound output to your TV.

At least, I've had a similar issue in the past. I changed the audio settings from Dolby Digital 5.1 to Digital Stereo and it went away. This was on the 360, though I'm sure that type of issue isn't console specific.
