@wcarnation and by "humor" I am sure he's referring to an endless amount of poop jokes and nut shots, as evidenced as his "extremely funny" Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

I think FO 3 and NV are funny enough without ruining the mood, I don't wanna play a Fallout comedy

Unfortunately Fallout 3 humor is nothing like Fallout 2 or even Fallout 1 humor. That was my biggest complaint about the game.

Warcraft sucks, and it's made me despise MMO's....

....however, I'd give em another chance for this or an Elder Scrolls MMO.

The franchises are just too good to pass up.

Flew over my head? More like I didn't read any of the other comments in this post.

I remember when I thought turning a franchise into a MMORPG seemed like a great idea... now? Not so much :(

Second half of 2012 is uncomfortably close to the end of the world for me, but if I gotta wait...

In all seriousness. I want this game to be good, and I do want to try it and I want to enjoy the f out of it. I don't much trust that's gonna happen, but a Hux can dream, right?

Interplay is betting big on this. First off, they need to win their court case. If they don't, all this work they're doing on their MMO will be wasted. Second, even if they CAN release their MMO, studios who do so and fail tend to meet an unfortunate demise (see: Realtime Worlds).

Wish these guys could figure out a way to make an mmo that is JUST like playing the REAL fallout game but with real people mulling about to interact with, a changing evolving world, new stories, etc. When did somebody make it a rule that mmo meant grinding or endlessly fighting each other in pvp. I want it to be like I'm playing fallout story lines.....but with my friends and without there being some 25 person raid I have to coordinate. Inevitably it ends up where me and my 2-3 rpg friends HAVE to join up with ppl or never advance again. Somebody reinvent this mmo thing and don't ruin fallout.

@Dungeoncrawl You'd have to provide pretty compelling reason to have me "mulling about". Our standing guard somewhere or something of the like.

I want a game much like the one you are asking for. The problem is no one has really figured out a way to involve the player or motivate their interactions with other players other than a points system or killing simply for the sake of killing.

As for "stories" I want this too. I don't want heavy instancing or "kill the evil dragon!...Very good now the next group...kill the evil dragon again!"

If you figure this all out please make a game.

I'll play it as long as it doesn't have monthly fees. Never have and never will play a game that has a monthly subscription fee.

@C1 People who don't want to play monthly fees don't understand what it means to actually support the games' producers.

@C1 To each their own. I feel I get what I pay for each month. A huge, constantly updated world full of thousands of people all running on hardware that costs money to maintain and operate.

If I didn't think it was "worth it" then of course I wouldn't pay.

Trouble is most of the time when people say "I won't pay a monthly fee" they usually add something like "unlike some of my idiot friends" or the like.

Thank you for not doing so.

I don't know if Fallout 3 would have been better with more humor (given that it's really a different beast to FO1 and 2), but I did have a lot more fun with the predecessor's dialogue than F3's, which was a mostly depressing game world altogether (but then, I guess that was the point).

And an MMO... not exactly the easiest market to crack eh? Although, at least Bethesda is managing to keep the bar low, for comparison sake, in terms of janky animation, cut scenes, and bugs, should Interplay release a less than stellar product

Fallout 1 and 2 were funny, but not in the way I think he means. It had a lot to do with clever dialogue and the occasional absurd situation (the chess match against the radscorpion, anyone?). It's not something an MMO lends itself well to.
