Why are they limited to 10 characters? Did NIS put so much effort into FINALLY upgrading the visuals beyond that of a playstation 1 game that they didn't have the budget for enough characters to make attack names over 10 characters long?

Whenever I see nonsense like that in current gen games, I always have to wonder how much of it is a technical limitation caused by lousy design, and how much is a conscious decision to keep things in an "old school" style.

Yeah, I realized AFTER posting that this was for NIS Japan.

Why this is being advertised on Joystiq is beyond me. NISA doesn't give two shits what the fan input on these abilities will be.

Man, I just grabbed a used copy of Disgea 3 a week ago, and this game is so goddamn confusing to the point of frustration. So little of the game is actually explained that you spend half your time just guessing at how shit works. The only reason I keep playing is that my girlfriend loves the music. That and I have a faint (faint faint) hope that one day everything is just going to click, but I seriously doubt that. It's quite like likely that, once I finish the (very weird but kind of charming) story, i'm just going to shelve it. Oh well.

@dxrebirth : Have you taken into consideration just how much Disgaea games tend not to follow logical sense?

Not saying a little "RTFM" ever hurt anybody, but Disgaea games are a little notorious for having illogical and arbitrary elements to them.

The Disgaea manuals hardly help with the more complex aspects of the depth of the game's battle system. If you want to be able to actually beat the game you either have to grind for hours or learn how to take advantage of the special dungeons and combination mechanics.

I remember putting in over 80 hours for Disgaea 1 and still could barely beat the final boss.

I already named a few of them in my head, including the axe one. "French Revolution." Now I just need to find a way to enter it without making a fool of myself in terms of Japanese grammar structures. And Google Translate doesn't help that much when it comes to grammar.

I just picked up the first disgaea on the psp and I gotta say I'm loving it so far, although I'm beginning to notice the difficulty in the game....
...can't wait to finish it and see what the other entries are like! >:D
