Any solo from the Strokes works for me. But to be honest there are too many great solos out there to name any single one as the greatest.

@Poor Tom I love the solo to The Modern Age. While it's not the greatest, it's still pretty good. But yeah it's pretty hard to choose the greatest solo because there's so many amazing ones.

@Poor Tom

How about Dimebag Darrel? Any solo from Pantera or Damageplan. Dude does not get the respect he deserves for what he did for metal.

Personally, I would pick any number of songs by Joe Satriani that just have him playing by himself.

I'd say my favorite guitar solo of all time is definitely Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home. It's amazing on the record and awesome to see played live... Claudio Sanchez plays it behind his head!

In the Fallout Boy cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It", John Mayer's take on Eddie Van Halen's solo could be considered the best "pop" guitar solo of our generation.

The best guitar solo of all-time is in Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing".
