Yea, Forge World will pretty much provide an endless supply of maps. These look sweet though.

Maybe it's the snow battle, maybe it's the jet packs in space, or maybe it's even the epic music. But I feel that I have to come back to this game right away.
Oh it's free to?
No, wait. It isn't.
Still buying it...

If you lump in Atom and that other Forge variant just put in, and the 5 or so variants coming from the Forgetacular contest that ends around the same time, then it's essentially 10 new maps... and you only have to pay for 3. I find that fairly impressive.

I can't wait for this to come out, but I wish it were a little cheaper... cause I have NO money. =/ Still, it's nice to see them not taking 6 months, like MW2 did, to release new maps for their games. Bungie is pretty good about support their games. Here's to hoping that this map's decision not to lock people who don't buy it out of certain playlists, like H3 did, becomes a trend.
It's sad that people are going to claim this to be Bungie freaking out over Black Ops. Who cares if they are lifting the cap and putting out a map pack to compete with Black Ops' launch? That's what they're supposed to do. If it weren't then they wouldn't be called competitors. Reach will get another couple map packs and another half dozen or so Forge variants, thanks to the Forgetacular contest, at the very least so I'm more interested in what Call of Duty will do to compete with that than I am in the other way around. Who knows, Reach getting cool little maps pumped into it from creative users might actually make the people at Treyarch work harder to match the number of maps and could wind up making CoD better as well.
We'll just have to wait and see.
Oh, and anyone who whines that these maps could have been in the game at launch because they look similar to in game maps, please just don't say anything. you are wrong. Noble Map Pack didn't go content complete until just last Wednesday.

the nice thing is that this time you don't have to buy it. you won't be locked out of certain playlists like in Halo 2 and 3; instead Reach will just match you with other people who don't have the maps.

They've all started off that way haven't they? I know for the longest time the first Mythic pack was a separate playlist, but I think now it's required for ranked TS in Halo 3 isn't it?
I thought they kept it separate for like 5-6 months then made it a requirement of whatever the main ranked/competitive/non-casual style playlist.

I wish they'd drop some more weapons for it...am the only one that liked dual wielding a mauler with a plasma pistol? Either way Bungie did make sure the gamer would be satisfied for years to come.

Dual wielding unbalanced medium sized areas... plus, unless you had a plasma pistol it was pretty in effective. No way you'd beat a BR with that in any situation except coming up from behind them.
And if you look at the switch to SPARTAN-IIIs, who aren't as well trained as SPARTAN-IIs, it kind makes sense.

I hear ya on your explanation...I agree that long to medium range there is no contest in that but I have on occasion in halo 3 made people pay for it... i guess they didn't know that you could strafe or jump to make yourself a harder target...much less, backpeddle, lol...but a well placed grenade stops the peddlin' and keeps 'em close...odds are still in the BR favor though.

@dubbuzz That's a special armor piece reserved for Bungie employees only. In Halo 3 Bungie employees got flaming helmets, now they have skulls.

Technically, it's not reserved for Bungie. You just have to get to the rank of Inheritor to unlock it (and buy every other helmet, but at 20 million cR you'll have bought the armory twice over by then).

Same. I can't think of anything not to like about Reach. It's the best Halo game ever...a perfect homage to old fans of the franchise. To be honest, I'm kind of surprised they managed to fit all that content on a single DVD.

Actually, you can get it too. You just need to buy EVERY other helmet and helmet attatchments in the entire game. Prepared to get the highest rank possible AND 1.5 million credits? Go for it.

To each his own. Personally, it was a disappointing diversion for a couple weeks. I got sick of every other game having some idiot purposely run into my line of fire so he could kick me out and score more points for himself (which I confirmed multiple times through post-game messages to said idiot). I wouldn't call that good or fun.

Why didn't they include the Halo suite music in this game again?

@Arizone
Because Marty wanted to differentiate this game's music from Halo 1-3. Much like ODST before it, this isn't about Master Chief. Also, very nice choice of music for the trailer. I haven't played Reach in awhile because of the AC:B beta but now I kinda want to because of said trailer.

Assume whatever you like about my skills. To be clear, I'm not talking about accidental team kills. I know the difference, but maybe you don't. What I'm talking about is the guys on my own team who would go out of their way to get in my way when I'm shooting so they can get killed and kick me to score more points for themselves. If I'm playing the game and someone else is ruining that game for everyone else on his own team so he can hoard more points for himself, it's not worth my time to play it. Call me a troll if you like, but that's what happened on several occasions and I finally got sick of it and stopped playing. Call it bad luck, but I was done with it and went back to games I could actually enjoy.

The 3 new maps look WAY too similar to levels in the campaign. Makes me wonder how much time and effort were really put into them.
As for the Forge World maps, they're getting stale already.

Anchor 9 is the space station that you defend when you're in the Sabre, so you never actually set foot inside it. There's not a snowy level or one with Covenant/Forerunner architecture all around like Breakpoint (other than Glacier, which if FF only and completely different). And Tempest has trees, but otherwise looks like it came from one of the Halos, again with all the Forerunner architecture.

Isn't that what the reporting system is for? There's also methods in place to avoid certain players. Let's also not forget all the new social matchmaking options Bungie added like preferring team play/lone wolves, prefer friendly communication/trash talking, etc.

What amazes me the most is that all Bungie has to do to make these badass trailers is just play on LAN for a day and go back to theater mode and start recording!
