Okay, I can understand the concept of a larger paid for "demo" like Dead Rising 2 Case Zero, but a limited time demo?

Are they scared that the game is so shallow that the demo gives a good enough experience of the full game without inciting a purchase for more content?

@Lerkero

Hawks and some other games have done limited time demo's before. I think it's a good idea. Can't name the # of times people have shafted a good product all on the account of the demo being better than it needed to be. Hawks, Blur and Rainbow 6 are just to name a few...

@Lerkero
it doesn't have to mean the game is shallow, it can simply mean the demo is so good you can get your 'fix' without the full game, even if the full game offers much more.

for example, i can usually play the demos for certain sports games (not all) enough to not need the game. i just don't need much basketball, for example. other sports, i play the heck out of the demo and still buy the game -- it has nothing to do with how 'full featured' the demo is, or how 'shallow' the full game is... it's just how much i like the sport.

that said? NFS:HP is day one for me.

@Lerkero Multiplayer demos do need some servers to run it. They rather have these servers for the full game once its out, so limiting the time is an easy way to do that, instead of just dropping the support.

I'd be a police officer if I got a Porsche Cayenne as a patrol car.

Maybe.

@noyesa I'd be one so I could walk around shooting things and shouting 'I am the law!'

I think the demo should always be available. Lets say a couple of months after release I'm interested about the game, but can't play the demo because I missed my window of opportunity to download it.

If that happened I would really lose interest in buying the game.

This is gonna be make or break for this game in my eyes.
I've been anticipating its arrival being a fan of both NFS and Criterion. Tommorow night brings decision time!!

I'm really interested in NFS:HP but no one I know is getting it. Hoping the demo changes some minds.

Yay! I can't wait to play this damn game. Who knows when GT5 will release but as soon as EA showed Criterion/Logo for this, I was sold! I hope they release a multiplayer demo like they did w/ BP.

Can't wait to sit down and play this tomorrow. I already know it is awesome from playing it at PAX but I've been craving more since then.

@Lucky48 It's far from the first game to do it. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was the same way. I believe, at least on 360, the original Left 4 Dead demo was only available for a limited time too.

Ugh. I played the demo of this at an EA event. It was fun for maybe 10 minutes.

Meh, I'm not sure about the idea of a limited demo. Maybe it will serve as a sort of final chance for customer feedback before they release the full game. Probably not the best idea, but I can see why EA is doing that.
But still... Why not release a PC demo? That is the only thing I really am disappointed with.

I have no PSN friends :(

I'll still give the demo a whirl, loves me some HP action.

IMO the original NFS:HP was the best NFS ever.

That being said, since I have the bar set so high in my head I hope this new one doesn't disappoint, lol.

It's October 26, and I checked the Playstation shop to see if the demo for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is available and it's not. Can someone please help me? I want to play the demo soooo badly :)
