This seems like an incredibly arbitrary and unnecessary factoid, mostly because it doesn't say much about Wii owners, or anything for that matter.

I wonder how much dust they're collecting.

BA-ZING! I'm here all night folks.

@floating coffins

Not as much dust as my PS3 and PSP. Though that's beside the point. Last time I booted up the PS3 was for GOW3, the Wii I just recently played Kirby's Epic Yarn which is fantastic.

Still neither get used compared to my PC and 360.

Holy crap.

And this is only in U.S! Imagine the world numbers. Easily 100 million?
Woah. Get ready for Wiimotes to take over the world...

It makes sense why Nintendo is releasing these numbers, Sony was tooting how many of their Wiimotes they shipped recently.

Uh... I just got an email from Nintendo saying they now have the Wii Remote Plus, November 7th.

Apparently, same size as original Wii Remote, only with a Motion Plus built in?

What?! When did this happen? Who knew about this and didn't tell me??

@Enosoma

Must have missed the Nov. 7th link up there. Woops.

Anyway, this blows because I totally just bought a black Wii the other week, due to my original one breaking on me.

Now I gotta buy some of those remotes.

65.3 million Wii-motes sold.

45.5 million Wii-motes thrown through windows, TVs, computer screens, friend's faces, walls, dog legs, cat hips, and lamps. 15% of which occurred out of anger at the inaccuracy of the original Wii-mote's inability to properly track.

10 million people punched solidly in the face playing Wii Boxing.

15 million bashed in the face on a back swing.

5 million struck by tiny white missile traveling at a high rate of speed.

*Disclaimer: All numbers fake, all scenarios ridiculous, all arguments invalid.

Even as a fan of Nintendo I still see no reason for this.

I guess its related to sony saying that they have sold 1 million move controllers.

Accept with nintendos figures they have actually said how many nunchucks were sold and how many with console etc. For a real comparision they would lump them all together in one figure and just quote that!
