how do you choose a diagonal direction?

@phocisticks You don't. This is more for the games that use the dpad for selecting items and the like.

The ones where you have to press "left" to use magic but it always responds (or doesn't) as if you pressed a diagonal and you die.

At least that is what I believe.

I have never had my D-Pad respond to a direction I haven't pushed.
I can't see what everyone is going on about.

Easy. Hold 2 buttons at the same time.

A lot of people that complain are the ones that play arcade type games. Like Pac-Man CE and the like. I've never had trouble either until I play games like that and then I go ohhhhhh thats what everyone is complaining about.

...yeah, the buttons are spaced too far from each other, I can see that being problematic in precision situations.

Nice try though.

Actually, you can go diagonal by hitting two buttons at the same time! So, if you wanted to go down let diagonally, you would hit both down and left :)
It's pretty easy and accurate!!

It works well for the DualShock, seeing as all the buttons are closely spaced together.

As for this controller however... I'm not too sure.

its a start, i hope they come up with something new though. God knows how much i hate the d-pad on my 360 controller. DualShock D-pad gets kudos from me on the design, IMO its better for my taste. I would even go as far as saying that i like it more than the nintendo one since when i click a diagonal direction it feels natural since the dpad is inside and only the four directions are 'out'.

Dualshock d-pad is the best ever. Now they just need to start offering the dual shock in two variations: one like it is now, and one with the d-pad and analog stick locations switched.

$75 for the wireless, are they f*ing insane? that's nearly $15 more than the new one coming from MS.

way to price yourself completely out of the market, morons.

@carg0 These are modded 360 controllers. They take original controllers and mod them. That's the only way you'd ever see a wireless controller from these guys. Microsoft has pretty much locked out the competition when it comes to wireless accessories.

This is really overpriced for a controller, I'm so used to the sales marking down wireless controllers for $25 - 35. Besides, I only need a D-Pad for fighting games like SFIV and I already got a TE arcade stick. :s

It's ugly. No thanks, 360 Controller may lack a good D-pad but it makes up for it with it's triggers and awesome 'Joystiq' placement. If i wanna play a game with a D-pad, I'll just switch over to my PS3.

@Riley Freeman

Everyone loves the 360's triggers, but when comparing them functionally to the Dualshock's R1+L1 (remember, I said we're comparing them functionally. I don't want to hear about how they're not to be compared as they're not located in the same relative place) I really think the DS3's setup is more comfy. Just too much play with the big triggers, IMO.

@Haizeus Owning and playing both about the same, I'll always prefer the 360 triggers over the PS3 ones. The L1 / R1 buttons, though, are better than the LB and RB buttons... which I never really understood why MS made them so clacky, instead of like buttons.

Not sure if this setup would be better or worse for pressing diagonal directions than the default one is (which Fallout: New Vegas is reminding me is pretty terrible).

Those sticks are a major lose. One of my biggest gripes about the PS controller is that unlike Xbox, the sticks don't have an indent into them. You can rest your thumb in the stick which makes for much quicker movements. Your fingers will slide off of these.

@Kyle4 Get your grammar straight. What you meant to say is "My fingers will slide off of these."

We don't all play the same way as you. We don't all have the same size/shape hands and fingers. Don't presume to know what the rest of us want or prefer.

@Lerkero This company just mods existing controllers they don't make new ones. In other words they have to buy them, then mod them so there are no economies of scale so to speak.

They have some decent ideas with buttons on the bottom of controllers but this one is pretty dumb.

And for anybody who doesn't see the problem with the 360's normal gamepad ... Pick up Fallout 3 or New Vegas and try to use the quick-selection weapon select wheel thing. It's basically impossible to pick any weapon on any of the diagonals without entirely stopping what you're doing and concentrating on getting it JUST right. More often than not, I disarm my current weapon than actually chose the one that I want.

$74.99 for a fugly d-pad, or $59.99 for the "usual" d-pad? Hmm..
