If you think Super Meat Boy is hard, try developing it

You must excuse Team Meat for looking a little loony upon the completion of the duo's Game of the Year contender, Super Meat Boy. "I can't even count the amount of times I had breakdowns and my wife had to convince me that I need to finish the game and I'll be okay," co-CEO Edmund McMillen told Eurogamer of the development of the game (which eerily echoes our experience of playing it).
"We get five or six hours of sleep a day, max," McMillen recounted. "As time drags on and you get sleep-deprived things get really crazy" -- perhaps explaining some of Super Meat Boy's loopy brilliance.
Despite the grueling development process of the two-man team's first commercial release (currently available and on sale for Xbox Live Arcade), Team Meat has no plans to hire more staff nor seek a publishing deal (which "seems like the most awful thing ever") for the next game -- and it "won't be Meat Boy," McMillen insisted. "It'll be totally new."
"We'd be lying if we said we hadn't talked about the next game, because we very much have," a pooped out McMillen confessed. "But thinking about it right now makes me want to stab myself in the stomach as hard as I can. With a gun."

I'll see exactly how hard. Waiting for the PC version, like all cool gamers should.

I'm not an elitist. It's just the honest truth.
"Teh Internets" which will be freely updated with new levels. A full level editor was planned,[7] but due to new regulations concerning user made content on consoles, only the PC and Mac versions of the game will have this feature, which will be released some time after the PC version ships"

This game is insane. I got to World 3 last night and just barely. I don't even know how/if I am going to beat the Dark World variants.

Can someone explain why it was so hard for these guys to make Super Meat Boy? It's a pretty simple game to program.

After spending like four solid hours accomplishing everything possible in the demo (and nearly throwing my controller a few dozen times), I am convinced this is 100% Game of the Year material.

They must have spent the last 2 years programming because they still think the ironic cheesy hipster photo is still cool.

I *really* wish they had made this a PSN release as well. One of these days I'm gonna have to get a 360. Maybe when I'm done with college...

I'm majoring in game design and have the hardest time getting stuff done in a 6 person team, can only imagine how tough it must have been for these guys to make such an amazing game on their own.

Man, this game is crazy hard, especially the character-specific levels. But I'm loving it. And it's hilariously adorable.

They must've put a cute narrative on a bottle of hair removal because pulling my hair out never looked so appetizing.

I love this game. For $10 it's practically a steal. Anyone who enjoyed N+ should check it out before they hike up the price.

Can someone explain to me why I am only 96% complete on world 3? I have ACED ALL light and dark levels, gotten all 20 bandages and unlocked the secret character. What am I missing?

I have actual pain in my hands and blisters from this game. I beat it after a lot of frustration and I need a long break before I try to tackle the additional levels. It is kind of fun to go back to the levels that gave you trouble in early in the game and climb leaderboards, but the end is just punishing.

Wow, this game was done completely by 2 guys? Amazing work! I love rooting for the little guys, I'll probably pick this up if it ever gets to Steam. (not being elitist, just don't have a console)

I did not know the game was only made by two people. That makes it even more impressive. 300 levels- 300 really good, deviously designed levels. Jesus how long did that take to make?
I'm very glad to see these guys having so much critical and financial success with SMB, it is well deserved.
