After playing the Demo of this game, I was sold. It wasn't even on my radar at all.

@Nofriendo Yea the demo was great, much better than I thought. However I really don't know what Sega is expecting releasing a shooter 2 weeks before Black Ops.

@Nofriendo Yeah. Honestly after beating the game it's definitely now my favorite third person shooter of all time. Surpassing even RE4 and Uncharted series for me.

Oh man. This game is literally a symphony orchestra of guns and explosions. I've pulled off so many sick combos in the air switching from rifle to shotty whilst shooting that grenade I threw a second or two ago to explode that group of robots in the back while I take care of the ones in front of me.....all before I hit the ground to boost away.

I hope they're just being cautious, I'd like to see more come from this IP. The game was painfully short, and the lack of any extra content is a bit of a downer, but I'd still like to see more.

@Shadowise Glad I bought it instead of Force Unleashed 2, and also, the free copy of Bayonetta didn't hurt the decision at all.

@CharlieDanger82

Indeed. Came out the same day as Fallout New Vegas. The fact that there seemed to be little to no advertising from Sega doesn't help much either.

Hopefully it gets the love it deserves once the holiday rush is over.

@AltairArcanum i'll tell ya, Altair, i did play the demo and it seemed like a pretty cool concept, but (and i'll prolly get hanged for this) i've never played a sega game that i've liked. so what did i do? I bought (i'll prolly get hanged for this too) the $60 expansion pack to Fallout 3. They called it New Vegas, but there is absolutely nothing new about it. i should have invested in Vanquish instead.

Sega *consistently* doesn't advertise their games and releases them at the worst possible time. Valkyria Chronicles right after Fallout 3, Resonance of Fate and Yakuza 3 opposite Final Fantasy XIII and God of War 3. It's like they *want* to fail...

Love the game.. iffy in spaces.. like huge robots shooting through their own legs, or falling debris that hits your cover, but not you, yet you die anyway... and melee which has a cool down period

@Mazrael

you should pretty much never be in cover anyway -- that's what is so beautiful about this game. forget what you know about traditional shooters and learn the suit's powers.

awesome game.

I loved the demo and beat the game but it is such a one trick pony. Repetitive enemies, levels and battles...low weapon variety and not much need for technique or thinking.

It's really, really average. A shame.

@JONNNathannn

totally disagree. there is wide enemy variety -- multiple types of grunt enemies, many bigger ones, and some giant ones. there are about 8 or so weapon types plus 2 grenade types, and leveling up weapons is a whole project in itself.

Gonna try the game ... but I'm really glad it turned out good for Sega , they gave us some of the best games "and one heck of a console" over the years...

Guys notice Sega didn't say this game didn't do well. Only Joystiq implied they did. It won't do as well as Bayonetta but that's okay. Bayo was a bona fit hitmaker Platinum won't be able to push those out on a regular basis.

Until then enjoy Vanquish!

This is good. Now there will be a quick price drop in time for the holidays. There's no multiplayer, so it's all good no matter when you play it or how many people bought it.

So what's with the marketing? Never even heard of this game until by fluke i spotted the demo in PSN and decided to check it out. Ok it isn't a blockbuster but come on Sega, could you just even try and get people know about this game?

I'm kind of sick of game publishers pinning all their expectations for games on first week/first month sales. I think it's one of the worst consequences of the game industry being constantly compared to the movie industry. Games aren't like movies. They will stay on shelves for many, many months after they premiere, and require such a big investment from consumers that there are few who will buy a new game out of blind curiosity without word-of-mouth to encourage them. A very, very small handful of companies - Nintendo and Blizzard are really the only ones I can think of - seem to understand this fact, while the rest of the industry frantically tries to be "JUST LIKE THE MOVIES" and declares to be a flop any game that doesn't sell a million copies the day it's released. Come to think of it, the movie industry ought to shake this attitude itself, though at least in its case there's a slightly more logical justification for it.

I think a lot of people loved the demo and would have easily spent $60 on it until they read reviews to find it's only 5 hours....

THE demo was AWESOME; and I had no idea of the RELEASE DATE !, grrrr I got tricked in to buying Medal of Honor the week before which I played for only 2 hours tops a lot shorter than this games supposedly 5 hour (it probably would have taken me longer playing, im constantly playing slow staring at the cool visuals.)

I WOULD HAVE SO BOUGHT THIS IF I KNEW WHEN IT WAS COMING OUT< GRRR I'm so mad i bought MOH, mad mad mad mad... and gamestop would only buy it back for 18$ the same day it released. GRRR i'm so mad, MOH SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! DICE should have never put there name on this product... I WANT VANQUISH !!!
