You could import this Kojima Productions PS3 bundle ... or make your own
26
Konami's newly revealed Kojima Productions themed hardware slash software set isn't nearly as compelling as the previous
limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PlayStation 3 bundle. That's because the new package is simply a stock 160GB charcoal gray PS3 console, a greatest hits version of MGS4 and a copy of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
This admittedly not-so-special-edition offering (which is, technically, limited to an undisclosed run) hits Japan on December 16 for ¥37,980 ($467). You can get a 160GB PS3 ($300), MGS4 ($20) and Lords of Shadow ($60) by themselves for a grand total of $380 right now, without those pesky international shipping charges. The only thing you'll be missing out on: 20,000 Reward Points for use in Metal Gear Online. But if you really want to pay the $87 difference just for them, we're not going to stop you.

Or I could do neither. I think I'm leaning toward that option.

If you can find it, true story.
But still not a bad bundle, and those two games are effing awesome.

I'll be honest I didn't think much of the Castlevania demo. It felt like a B team God of War 3. Wish it somehow felt more like Symphony of the Night.

The one thing that sticks out is the main character's head is too small for his body.

I'm currently playing it, and on like chapter 4...it gets SOOOOOOOOOOO epic :O
Worth the money so far, definitely.
It's less of a God of War clone in that it has its own epic story, its own abilities (via the cross whip), and over all the look and feel of it is much different than GoW.
Dont' get me wrong, I'm a big fan of GoW games, but this game is just so awesome so far. And it's much less of a GoW clone than lolDante'sInferno was.
At least, that's my point of view anyway.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude. I just hate when people demand an entirely different game to feel like some other game. If you want a game to "feel" like symphony of the night, play symphony of the night. It's like $10 or less on PSN and Xbox live. I realize it was an epic game, but the series has to move forward, not backward. It's about time we get some good 3D Castlevania option(s).

20,000 RP in MGO...what a joke. After the bikinis, there wasn't much left to buy.
Is anybody still even playing it? I like it, but I'm terrible and otherwise preoccupied with other titles.

Are people still playing Metal Gear Online? I never messed with it, even though I beat MGS4... I heard nothing but bad things from the gaming press about it. Did anyone here try it and like it?

I wrote you a long comment but it seems to not have made it. Summary is...
JPN MGO (from play-asia, $20): totally worth every cent
U.S. MGO on the MGS4: waste of time.

yup. JPN is a completely standalone edition. I highly recommend it (though I should probably check to see if anybody's still online with it or if they've all moved onto mw2 or uc2).

I'm still waiting for a holiday bundle to buy a PS3 that isn't a bundled with the Move. Hopefully they'll release a Batman bundle with AA GotY and the dark knight BD...

Not worth it. The Castlevania game has me interested, but MGS4 was a pile of crap. I know it won't be a popular opinion, but I seriously doubt that most people have played the game. The game only sold like, what, less than 4 mil? That's typical for MGS games, but MGS has never been too popular in the west.
Now, if you're like, dude, I saw a trailer, and that game looked awesome! Then yeah, I agree, I was pumped up for it. After having played MGS (which I consider to be one of the all time greatest PSone games), MGS2 (which sucked for a plethora of reasons, but not as bad as 4), and the incredibly MGS3: Subsistence (which I beat on European Extreme ^^ ) I was ecstatic, and thought that it would be the greatest game ever made.
I could write a freaking book on how many problems were with the gameplay. Even if you say it's great because of the plot, no, it wasn't, the entire plot, every twist, all of it was : nanomachines. Even stuff that doesn't even make sense that nanomachines could affect, they're the answer for in this game. It's like, imagine the most ridiculous anime that's not entertaining at all, that it just sucks, but it's way over the top. Now imagine that the kind of stuff that happens in that is put in a world that's supposed to be realistic.
I know that MGS has always had some unrealistic stuff like bosses, but MGS4 went way over the top. Like, imagine if you're playing dead space, and then a chicken hoola hooping comes out eating twinkies while playing the xylophone. I would seriously find that more acceptable then the crap done in this game, like the crapness that was the plot around Meryl near the end of the game and practically everything with Raiden (excluding the one kind of cool fight scene with him).
I used to be such a huge fan of MGS, I even beat Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 (the NES games...er, maybe the 2nd one is an SNES game). But MGS4 killed it for me. I haven't even said anything about the gameplay, but imagine they took everything that made the MGS3 gameplay awesome and did the exact opposite. I love my PS3, but please, don't buy the awful trash that is MGS4. It makes me sick that I spent money on it.
(oh, and the online sucks too, but it was somehow the most entertaining part of the game to me, despite taking an hour to dl on a great internet connection).

Metal GEAR 2. Not Metal Gear Solid 2. Before you start insulting people, perhaps you should know your history about the MGS games, and realize that the first two Metal Gear games were about Solid Snake fighting and eventually killing Big Boss. Those games were on Nintendo systems.
Then many, many parts of those games were recreated in the PSone hit Metal Gear Solid (fighting a helicopter, a tank, being chased up tons of stairs, 4 people attacking you on an elevator, etc.) They're different games with similar names.

Couldn't agree more. After riding the hype train for MGS4, I was terribly disappointed with the plot. I can't complain about the quality of the product, it was how everything was forced to tie together.
One of the low points was sitting through the monologues with Drebin regarding the Beauties. *shudders*
