- Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-order -- $54.99, down from $59.99 (plus, this sweet, sweet wallpaper bonus -- but sadly, no Amazon credit)
Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-orders get $5 off on Amazon
43
Some would say a soldier's most important quality isn't accuracy, tenacity, bravery or valor -- but rather, thrift. If you're planning on jumping in on the Call of Duty: Black Ops action day one, you can show your militaristic penny-wisdom by pre-ordering the game on Amazon, and saving a whole $5.

I pre ordered this on amazon back when they were still giving the $20 promotional credit. Will I still get that or not?

@bman01 That's actually not true, they removed the $20 credit for everyone. There's no record of it.

The removed the credit for new purchasers, not for those that had already pre-ordered.
I've bought a lot of games from Amazon when they had promotional credits. I've always gotten the credit, even when they removed it from the order page like they have done for Black Ops. As long as you put in your order while the credit was still active, you'll get it. If you order today you won't get the credit, since they removed it awhile ago.
AFAIK the only way to tell if you'll get the credit or not is to check the e-mail you got when you placed the pre-order. If it says "Congratulations. Your purchase has qualified you for a $20 Video Games promotional code. The promotion code will be applied directly to your Amazon.com account up to two (2) business days after your product ships.", then you're good to go.

There's also a promotion at Best Buy for Reward Zone Gamer's Club members to get 500 bonus points when pre-ordering...that is $10 in certificates.

Oh, cool. I've also heard that will also be a preview of sorts available at some sort of pirate cove, perhaps even before the release date. Hooray!

@Volcon They usually post deals from several different retailers.

Best Buy points are nice.
I just picked up a 50" flat panel, and the result was a $40 off coupon. Since I don't use the 360 that much, I'm thinking of maybe dropping that on a 2nd copy of black ops for that console, in the event that I don't get around to playing with my 360 buddies (which has happened on W@W as well as mw2).

But you still buy things from them. $20 off of a game you buy from them. Then they give $10, $15 or $20 off your next game. It's a trap. A wonderful trap.

@Bubbameister33 - Not to mention that the credit expires, so it is a nice bet for them, sort of like an expiring gift card
(the credit used to expire, if it doesn't anymore, I take the preceding statement back)
I'm pretty sure that anyone that ordered during the $20 credit promotion will receive their credits (they likely won't get the $5 off though, unless it counts as part of Amazons "price guarantee" for pre-orders). I've pre-ordered stuff from them before, and I've gotten bonuses that have expired, so I would hope that their policy wouldn't have changed.

I know but I was referring to preordering it when they had $20 credit for black ops now it's gone. I was wanting to know if I'd still get it but from the looks of it I won't. :(

Amazon has me hooked when it comes game purchases. No tax, 99 cent release date delivery, usually $10-$20 of game credit for preordering, preorder bonuses like exclusive armor for instance, and they sell games cheaper than other retail stores. There is no reason for me to step into another Gamestop or Best Buy, and for that, I am grateful.

@Porksta No. Actually on august 11 when I pre ordered it still had 20$ credit ;). I guess 2.5 months can be "months" but I consider that to be like at least 3 months

Honestly, I've completely lost track.
I know I pre-ordered black ops from Amazon early summer, but I have no record of a $20 credit of any sort.
I ended up anyhow canceling and reordering to take advantage of 99 cent first day shipping though.

What? Of course 2 ½ months constitutes a plural. What a silly thought.
I bought 2 apple from the supermarket today!

They didn't even give the deal to PC users, knowing that the majority of them would have pirated the game anyway.

@Volcon - Amazon certainly has a referral program, but since there is no way to know, a reasonable person would give the benefit of the doubt to someone posting a link. Feel free to do some investigative journalism and see if that isn't a referral link though (we'll be waiting with bated breath)
As for Activision paying for the post, it would be nice if there were any proof whatsoever offered with such an accusation. Writers are bought off far more often than any of us would like (the guy at 1up that recently raved about a games online feature when the game didn't even have an online feature comes to mind) but it doesn't help anyone when people make baseless claims against people.

I know it's plural but I was referring to the sense of a few and couple terminology. A couple is 2 a few is at least 3. So in my case I was thinking it hasn't been a "few" months yet

My amazon order from a few months ago now links to "Call of Duty: Black Ops with Laser Cel". Any idea what that might be?
