We can't be certain how many more Kinect purchases Microsoft will score by targeting Ellen's demographic. What is certain is that Ellen has scored major props for putting down some "flawless" Dance Central moves. Step your game up, Kietzmann.
While not exactly an Oprah-caliber performance, with the help of Microsoft, Ellen is getting DeGenerous in her own right by offering up a chance to win one of ten Kinect units (personal information required to enter the giveaway) on her site -- where you can also check out her full dance clip (completely anonymously).

Ellen is the shiz! I just saw a clip of her putting David Beckham up to a very uncomfortable hidden camera taped massage with some very interesting requests being piped into his ear piece including "no fumbs".

@peternography You gotta understand, the core market is saturated between the PC,360, and PS3. The only way to keep growing is to get your hardware into every home that you can. I'll wager that the Oprah and Ellen demographic have or appeal to the Wii and casual games. Kinect may look like some kind of weak gimmick (motion controls), especially to your core gamer, but trust me. This will be huge revenue for MS. There are so many markets created with this thing - The obvious being the fitness games for all the fatties that are tuning in to these shows. Don't worry core gamer/motion control hater. Your games are still the backbone.

Is that why they pushed Gears of War 3 back to Holiday 2010? I hate Microsoft sometimes. I really do.
This whole Bieber-Oprah-Ellen campaign just sucks. I know that Microsoft will probably bank with this Kinect thing, but some part of me really, really does not want that to happen. I'm not sure what "core" games Microsoft has up its sleeve for next year (if any) but their lineup is going to pale in comparison to the PS3's bevy of sequels. Then again, I'm not really sure if a crapload of sequels is really a good thing either.
Microsoft probably should have let Lionhead work on Fable 3 a little more, and hopefully there will be something else from Remedy announced next year. Also, will we finally hear about Codename: KIngdoms? As much as I hate the Kinect (so far), my girlfriend will probably end up getting one anyway. So whatever, maybe and hopefully they will figure out some way to make core games on Kinect so that Codename D, Steel Battalion and Project Draco turn out alright.

Wait, you're mad about Gear 3 getting pushed back but you would perfer Lionhead work on Fable 3 more? & FYI it was Epic who pushed it back. They're going to have public beta for the game sometime early next year. For me, I actually am happy that gears isn't coming next spring because now they have more time to fine tune it & with a beta in the works, they can insure Gears 3 will be to the Gears franchise as Halo Reach is to the Halo franchise.

Well that sounds good to me. What I meant about Fable 3 is that they could have just as easily released it next year and spaced out their exclusive releases a little better. This year we've already had Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, a little game called Halo: Reach and a crapload of awesome XBLA titles. And now Fable 3 is out. Not to mention Mass Effect 2 also dropped this year.
As for Gears 3, I wish they would lengthen the campaign a little more and not just focus strictly on multiplayer with the extended deadline. I enjoy co-oping the campaigns in the Gears games, and with four players it's going to be siiick. Anyway, whatever they do with Gears I know it will be awesome. Can't wait.

@Liquidfingers Balance. They can do both, They can do it all....I don't believe that Gears 3 was forced to push back by Kinect, but a little more dev time certainly can't hurt can it? I'm pretty sure they want to schedule releases at an even pace.
I just can't understand why the hard core gamers have such a problem with this. It's optional, they don't have to buy it. It's like guys who say they hate cats because they think it makes them more manly.

Is this the future of video games? I don't want this to be the future of video games. I'm afraid there isn't going to be a waggle-free console next gen. Waggle is fine for party games and something like Resident Evil 4/5 (where you don't have to aim at the screen all the time) but I want to play "real" games in a comfortable sitting/lying position without having to worry about which way my waggle stick is pointing.
It's great that gaming is becoming more popular among the general population but please keep making games for us fat nerds as well. Otherwise I'm going to grow up to be a bitter old man who tells kids stories of the good old days when video games were played with buttons and d-pads and you had to blow into them to make them work.

i dont want to bash the kinect at all and i plan on getting one at launch but that video seemed too rehearsed. for the most part the timing seemed to match relly closely, but a couple of times it seemed like the game character was moving before she did and she quickly adjusted her arms to catch up to what happens on screen. plus the had the part of the screen that shows your body cut off.
it could be some sort of delay with the split screen or something who knows, but it seemed like there was some lag.

@Mustang Fanboy - I'm not really a fan of Ellen's show, but even I am ashamed that her sexuality has become such an issue here. Really people? She fell in love, and got married, to a woman. She's a lesbian. She is not a man. It's not funny to ask if she is a man.
