Duke of Honor.

Both games have/had multiple studios working on it. Coincidence? Yes.

Yeah, cus MOH was the first thing ever to have a cover of a guy facing away dividing a black and white background.

I am going to think the original directors cut of DNF was awesome and the evil corporations kept keeping the original artists from seeing the true vision. I know it is not true but people seem to believe it for everything else.

Gearbox should have stayed sooooo far away from this hot mess. You have to congratulate PAX and blog sites for getting this game another decade of funding though. Another ten years of ping pong and nerf wars in Plano.

@Jack Kevorkian That's a truly unfair criticism to level at Gearbox just because it's the Duke Nukem Forever license. They've got a long history of putting out successful games from licenses (Halo and Half-Life, for instance), as well as original IP (Borderlands most recently). More credit is due to them for taking on this project and I have little doubt they'll finish it. Let's hope I'm not eating these words come Fall 2011.

@Benjamin Gilbert I love Gearbox which is why I wish they would have stayed away. This game is a talent and money sapper and as far as my opinion goes should have been abandoned years ago.

If this article doesn't show more smoke and mirrors to keep their nervous investors happy for another month than I don't know what else you can read.

In other news, Huxley looks amazing.

@Benjamin Gilbert Just rallied you did the interview so yeah you probably did read it. I think where 3d realms is going is borderline criminal. No way other peoples money, large sums of it, aren't at stake. I feel bad they are getting the shim sham of this whole mess.

@Jack Kevorkian

My favorite is the part where you thought Ben hadn't read the article.

Seriously though, 3D Realms isn't working on it at this point, as stated in the article:

"Of course, the current 3D Realms staff is one team not working on the present incarnation of DNF, despite toiling over the project for more than a decade."

So I'm not sure what you mean when you say "where [they're] going is borderline criminal." Honestly, the entirety of your complaints seem to be based on the assertion that the Duke franchise is "cursed." Because otherwise, there would be no actual reason for Gearbox to "stay away," because they don't have a history of not releasing games - Colonial Marines notwithstanding, though I believe that was do to drama at Sega.

@Jack Kevorkian You never read the full story on DNF did you? The reason it took so long was that 3DRealms was sitting on a boatload of cash from DN3D sales and every time they came close to releasing, Broussard saw what the latest engine could do and would have the team rebuild the game on that new engine. The rough estimate was that Duke Nukem Forever could have been released about four times over those 10 years. But it was never good enough for Broussard.

So it was actually the exact opposite...there was TOO much artistic license on the game.

Huxley is not fun at all, I played the beta. And I anticipated that game for a long time. So have fun with that dude. I'll be busy not giving a shit how long a game took to develop, and I'll be playing it if it's fun regardless.

Lets hope they keep all the classic stuff... specially the phrases, the space pigs and whatnot!!

And the phrase that will KICK @ss! "It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm alll out of gum"

Keep all back to basics but in a remake 3D!!!

Don't leave us hanging 3DR-Gearbox!

I personally love the DNF saga. I think it's funny. And if the game turns out to be good in the end, cool.

They should put Duke Nukem in the Gears of War Universe, he would fit that role perfectly. I dont think he has enough to carry his own title this gen. But we will see.

@Tradio

Wait. You don't think that a Duke Nukem title will carry itself? Duke kicks ass and chews bubble gum. I've never seen Marcus once chew gum. If anything, Marcus should be put into Duke's world, see if he can handle himself.

I realize its easy to be a critic, but you call this an interview? That must have taken, what, 30 seconds to do?
