The main mechanic in this game is the ability of the main character to rebuild himself after taking damage. You don't get a health bar, you just lose body parts where you are hit, so I'd imagine that 3 is just showing the reforming process.
Also, this game is looking great.

Does it seem weird to anyone else how in-the-action Ms. LacyBra is? I didn't think she was immortal too. If she isn't, I would definitely advise her to hang back and let Mr. Immortal take the hits.
